The long (straight) neck is typically 10:1 compression while the curved neck is typically 9.2:1 compression.

There are variations of both though. The only real way to know is either see the piston (flat top = 10:1, dished top = 9.2:1) or do a compression test.

Jdm Kl V6 2.5l

I'm looking at getting a KL engine as opposed to the KLZE for financial purposes for my '93 MX-6. Do most of the suggestions and tips in this thread apply to the KL as well as the KLZE?
Also, I have been calling around and looking for stock motors just in case and I'm always asked for my VIN number. What's the difference? I was told one has more motor mounts. If so, how come when I'm looking at KL's they fit all MX-6's from '92-'96 and there's no mention of how many motor mounts?
This is a big investment for me and I just want to make sure when I buy the KL it's gonna work. Thanks all!

A KL what? KL03 I assume. Or KLDE as it's also known. As far as getting a stock replacement for financial reasons that doesn't quite make sense. Usually a stock replacement is either way more expensive or is junk. Anywho, the motor mounts are the same on a KLZE and KL03. The only difference would be between the I4 and V6 models. The rear motor mount on a 93 is slightly different but is still interchangable with 93 and up. Also on 2nd Gen mx6's they came out in 93 in the US and ran until 1997. Also the motor out of a mx-3 LS in 92 came with the V6 motor.

They just call it a KL.

A JDM KL ENGINE 626 MX6 PROBE GT

Check it out at this website. It's about halfway down the page. They've got a curved head at $590 and the regular at $550.

Beyond that, this thread is cluttered enough.

It's just called a KL but it is a JDM engine. After calling around I did figure out that the stock engine would not be the way to go.

Here's what the website calls it:
A JDM KL ENGINE 626 MX6 PROBE GT

I've been trying to post the link the website I'm looking at but my posts keep getting nixed. Their spec show:

• Make: Mazda
• Engine Code: KL
• Year: Ford Probe GT, Mazda 626 V6, MX6 V6 92-96
• Valve Train: DOHC 6cyl. 2.5L
• Horse Power: 200hp@6500rpm
• Displacement: 2497cc
• Mileage: Approximately 25-35 Thousand Miles
• Condition: Best
• Included: Complete Motor
Complete Head & Block
Distributor, Intake Manifold
Exhaust Manifold, Alternator
Power Steering Pump
Fuel Rail, Injectors
Throttle Body

Hey guys, I don't know if this is common information or not, but apparently the mazda 929 has the JE50 197200-0060 VAF as well as the MX-3. This can be really helpful because the MX-3 is kind of hard to find in junkyards and a new JE50 VAF costs over $200.

O_Z, search probinator chip. Alot cheaper and better than ECU and VAF.

I heard a rumor that if you use the pribinator chip on a 93 ecu, all the fans in your car consitently run.

Well unfortunetly I already bought and installed the probinator chip and am just waiting to see if this happens to me since i have a 93. But i'm hoping i told probinator that i had a 93 and he might have a special chip for that year? I might be buying a 94 ecu. I'll find out when my car is off the rack.
