hey guys. i know that the klze will more then likely not pass emissios in california with the j-spec ecu. My question is however, if i have the ecu programed to j-spec and run 118 octane gas will the high octane gas even out with the j-spec ecu upgrade allowing me to pass emissions? theres a race shop in downtown that sells 118 octane gas in case your wondering where id get it. its about 60 bucks for 5 gallons.
I wouldn't put in that high of an octane.I would think like 102 or 104 is ok but not all of the time.Fill your tank 3/4's full and then add the 5 gallons.I don't think adding the 118 will alllow you to pass emissions even though it is a cleaner fuel.

dont do this or ull be putting 15.875 gallons of gas into a 14.5 gallon gas tank . ive always heard that higheroctane fuel burns cleaner but ive never seen the numbers to prove it so idk

Let's try this again I meant to fill your tank 3/4's full then top it off with the higher octane this will help delute it some what and be easier on your injectors.I have had friends run 104 in their cars and their injectors burn up.Your stock injectors aren't really set up for that kind of high octane.
IIRC, the octane rating in Japan is rated slightly different. Their '104' is what our '94' would be like. Besides, if you are having the ECU 'retuned' you should be alright. I have been running 91 for 2 years.

correctamundo... high octane fuel doesnt reduce NOx. or any other emissions gas for that matter...

actually, youll fail the evaporative portion of the test because youll be spewing fuel all over the ground (not to mention the CEL youll be throwing for adaption faults)
another thing you can do is rev the heck out of it and race it hard, gets alot of deposits out, just don't kill your car. Emissions suck in MD as well, I feel your pain

Just make sure you have a good a/f ratio and your EGR is hooked up, oh, and your not burning to much oil.

unless ive been misinformed since the first day i heard of the ZE, there is no EGR in the ZE intake mani. so, doesnt that make it kinda hard to pass california emissions?? you could put the stock mani back on [if you still have it] for the emissions, and put the ZE back on when you get done. but, to answer your question, no, 118 octane fuel will not make you pass emissions, not to say it wont help, but it wont make you. i read a while ago that there was a way to drill into the mani and "manually install" an EGR, but since i dont have a ZE i didnt read up too much on it.

I can't remember how my shop did it, but they didn't have a problem with it. A good shop should know how to hook it all up. And like I said,
