First off,
No question is a dumb question. Everyone had to start somewhere. I believe the kit gets bolted (or screwed) onto the body, and the holes are filled with a filler. You can then have the kit painted, or, if you want it to look like the car came with the kit on (meaning, it looks like it should be there, not added on later) you can have the kit molded to the car.
