Need 4WS gas tank

Anyone got one or know of a place that sells an aftermarket one? Ive gone thru thousands of websites, tons of auto parts manufacturers and such, and all of the local yards, and NOBODY can get the ones for 4ws models. Mazda has even discontinued them.

The last place I have found is mazdapartscheap.com, but I havent contacted them to see if they even can get them, and how much shipping is (on top of the $500 they want for the tank)

i wish i could help you out because there was a 4ws in the junkyard when i was there a few weeks ago. I imagine shipping would be a pain plus im not sure what shape the tank was in.

YEah thats the problem Ive been comign across too... some people can get them, but the tanks are in worse condition than mine....

Shipping is not a problem no matter how much it would be for someone to ship it to me, as long as the price was low enough and the tank was in good enough condition...

Race Pages - Auto Parts and Accessories Catalog - Fuel Tank Mazda - 1989 Mazda MX-6

check that out....like 4th item down. Says it fits an 89 4 wheel steering. I think the 4 wheel steering has two holes though or something? I read it somewhere. I could be wrong or the picture they have could just be a generic picture up. just check it out. I searched for about 25 minutes because i was that bored haha.

yea so it cant be the correct one.
the 4ws tank is totally different then a 2ws tank.
a few years back ive replaced one.
its indeed got 2 fuel pumps because of the 2 "separated" chambers becuase of the steering axle running under it.

I didnt realize the part numbers where the same, damn. What do you expect at like 2 am haha. I guess it wouldnt hurt to contact them just to make sure that its not the same product even though its the same part number. Possibly error int he part number listing? Maybe they use the same number but you specify when you order? Doubt it but it only takes 20 seconds to send an email.

Alright, hopefully good news. I call race pages and i talked to an indian/hindu guy (that deserves karma already cuz i could just barely understand what he was saying) and he did say do not go by the picture for the 4ws steering gas tank. He said they just used the same picture. He also said that when you give them the part number SPECIFY that you want the 4ws steering gas tank since they are the same part number. I hope this helps. so if you do order, call them by phone.

I would go ahead and buy it.
Here is what you do:
Print out the ad, where it says it FITS the 4ws. ORDER it, tell em its for a 4ws so they send you the right one, pay with a credit card, receive it. If it fits GREAT. If it DOESNT, then they should have NO trouble giving you an RMA # and a shipping account # to send it back on. If they give you crap about it, call your credit card company and tell them that they falsely advertised and you have the proof that you can fax them.
Either way, you will get your money back if it doesnt fit. Its worth a try since you have spent so much time already looking for one.

You absolutely sure the dealer can't get them? Are you sure dealer isn't just being lazy?

They said it was discontinued and that none of the dealerships in their database had one either. I even told them beforehand that I had cash in hand and could pay for any freight/shipping charges.

I order a lot of pretty rare stuff thru them normally, and though pricey, they always get them for me.

If anyone else can get one from a dealer, let me know.

Id rather not. I dont have time to play games with companies. They have all the time in the world to [fizzle] with people; I dont.

Contact the manufacturer then and verify that they do indeed make one. Id say if this is the ONLY thing you have found, its worth a shot, plus they probably do have teh 4ws tank. Or call a body shop and see if they can help.

It is not unlikely that that dealer has discontinued the part. They have discontinued MANY parts for our cars, and gas tanks are not something a single dealer would typically stock. The local Mazda Distributor in Sugar Land, TX recently liquidated their stuff and I bought some.

Ive contacted tons of people already, only to get the dead-end saying that they wont work for 4ws models. Ive found ONE tank on car-parts.com, but the only one in the country is found in Utah.

EDIT: actualyl I found more using that search, and a few are withing 5 hours! I am going to make a road-trip next weekend when I get my car fixed...
