4WS Issue?

Heya,

I have a 1992 Mazda MX6 (unsure on if it is classed as a 1G or 2G), basically my 4WS has stopped working and the 4WS dash light is permanently on. A mechanic said the 4WS needs a service. He also said that the car can be driven without problems on 2WS.

So I'd like to pick some brains... Any pointers on where I could start, to see why the 4WS has fail safed to 2WS?? Could it be a simple issue, or something more complex.

Also can this be a common occurance, or has anyone else been through this before?

Thanks!

MazdaGal

Nice car! More pics please.

I know nothing aobut the 2nd gen 4ws systems. If it was a first gen i would have it fixed by now. I hope someone in OZ can chime in here with some answers. It would be great to see the FSM description of the 4ws system.

haha thanks, she's stock still. But I love her. All I've done so far is put in the new tail lights, just wired up a monster sound system, new alarm and immobiliser and reverse parking sensors. I'll start doing some serious mods once I get her 4WS worked out. She's my first Mazda, I come from years of driving Holdens and Fords so the 4WS is new territory to me. Ive posted this in the 2G section as well, see if I can find a starting point to get her fixed.

So although she's a Jan 1992, she'd come under the 2G section?

Pics attached below as requested.

Thanks again!

Yes, unfortunate as it sounds...you are under the 2g section. I'll see if I can find a good spot for this thread
