Junkyard find - can't believe my eyes

Today as i was scouring the junk yard here in kzoo i found a 4ws 626. I thought at first it only had 142k miles. But as i was inspecting the engine i noticed it had a sticker on the timing belt cover that said:

87k engine replaced at 389,000 miles. I did a double take at the writing as a wiped it clean. I rechecked the dash and it said:

442,929

Whoa! FIrst i had to question why anyone would put a new motor in a car with that many miles, and second how many auto transmissions did they grind up to hit that many miles. I think that beats the amount of miles on Allmazda's car. Anyone see one with more miles? I may go back and take it.

Needless to say i grabbed the timer unit out of it....and felt confident in my $600 purchase four years ago when i bought my current 626 with 4ws. I only have 189k on mine.

If everything goes according to plan i will get to run mine that long, too.

If anyone needs anything 4ws related let me know i have tons of parts for these cars. Computnut21 i will check on the rubber steering part you want but i will assume it is busted, too. And defiler, this JY punctures all tanks so this one is no good to anyone.

Id be interested in the rear rack depending on the price....if its the same as the mx6 4ws (assume it is). Id grab everything related to it if i were you (P/S sensor, trans speed sensor, control unit, secondary fuel pump control, etc.)

I've already got all that stuff from other better candidates previously.

If you want the ol rust rack, i'll pull it for you....but it is prolly not worth it....since you'll attempt to install it in a probe.

If its in decent looking shape, then id like to hve it as a spare, along with the other stuff...

And lets not turn this into another flame thread...Ive already shown the subframes are the same, proving they will bolt in, and im working on the wiring today....the two things that were said to be impossible....so lets keep the "it cant be done" to ourselves

If you want to make some spare cash, we can work a deal...if you want to flame me (agian) ill pass...thanks

ok, you can remove the flame suit. I got it all out of my system in that other thread. It is a jealously thing....nothing personal. No need to beat a dead horse.

I DO currently have a spare rear rack, for parts. All parts are good on it, except where the dolt who used to own that 4ws mx that defiler now owns, cut the shaft out from the back even so he could put in a regualr gas tank.

I will examine the parts more this week, i plan on going back to check on compunut21's part and to steal the control unit (already got the timer unit out safely...need to test it today).

So i do have some 4ws parts for sale...just let me know what you guy need, i may go take pics of the car and snag the dash as a momento (sweet movie).

But i first need to make my way to the health clinic for i just called in sick (first time at this job) and i need an alibi if i be pulling 4ws parts all day.

Dude, it's called "The MAzda Dealership". They can get you any part for these cars still (Other than the [fizzle]ing gas tank). Get the part # and type it into mazdapartscheap or rosenthal mazda if youir local dealer[shizzle] wont get it for you.

Yeah that person was a moron, seriously. For all the work they did, I dont know why they wouldnt have just removed the shaft instead of cutting it. Must have been they were saw-happy, since they also cut thru the thickass parts of the front tie bar to remove it

Its like theyd never heard of a wrench.

Well... you've proven they look the same, but not yet that they will bolt in.

Im going to measure tonight when I swap rear suspensions.

So Jeff, is there any way to test those units off the car, or is it just swap in the unit on the car to test? There was someone who wanted to buy my spare one on here, but I never have gotten the time to test it in-car (and now that the 4ws is disabkled, I suppose there is no way to test it yet)

You can send it here and I'll test it j/k that would be a ton of work. these rear racks are built well and minus the inner shaft breaking on some AU's car, 19/20 problems with the 4ws are the timer unit under the passenger seat or something electrical.

You could test resistance of the stepper motor, visually inspect the condition of the hydro lines on top (i have replaced a set in every 4ws rack i installed) of the rack, and if you were so inclined you could pop out the 4ws hydraulic filter and see how dirty/inspect for shavings.

I would be more worried about purchasing a bum timer unit then a bum rear rack.

If anyone has a spare timer and control box id be interested...since they are the common ones to fail, id like to have a spare...if the rack is next to impossible to go bad beyond repair, ill hold off on that.
