You will get NOTHING!....and you will Like it!
Ok fine. I would have mentioned anyway.
The Konis are for a car you know very well...the 1988-1992 Mazda 626 GD coupe/sedan.
Years ago(98?99?) I had seen a part number for the strut inserts. At the time I wasnt interested in aftermarket items for the LX and the numbers were lost. Ive been trying to locate those items ever since. When I saw that Jimsix(?) (Australian fellow) had them listed for his car it occurred to me that other fitments may be available. So I abandoned my search for the original fitment Konis and looked for another cars fitment that could fit. Eclipse? Road Race engineering said no.....2nd gen MR2? possible but their struts are made with caps that can be removed, wouldnt fit ours. Ok it HAD to be the European 2nd gen(I was reaching pretty hard on this)...after many e-mails to Koni Europe and Koni USA I decided this wasnt it either. *Sigh*
And then...a miracle.
Dutch626 messages me (as he often does, we trade stuff a lot) and sends me a link to an online ad in the netherlands and says "Is this what you are looking for?". I had kept Dutch up to date about my search for the Konis over the years. The ad was completely in dutch, but I knew exactly what it was about. Some company that used to deal with Mazda parts was liquidating old stock that was sitting unsold in their warehouse.
200 Euros (250$) for brand new, still in the box, original fitment Koni single adjustable inserts for the 1st gen MX6. They havent been made in @8-10yrs(in fact the build date on these is April92)
I asked Dutch to place a deposit immediately to prevent them from being sold and sent 300$ the next day to him to buy them for me(and he worked his arse off to get them too). One month or so later.......
Its good to have friends.
