Well ... imho it's all personal choice ... and a lot of people enjoy smoking!
If she's already had lung cancer, it's not to say she isn't going to get it again, and it's also not to say if she quits smoking, she'll be better off!
I am one to enjoy a smoke from time to time ... but I only smoke Davidoff Virginia 12s ... which don't have all the chemicals that your supermarket stuff does ... and thus aren't as bad for you (not that they are good for you either).
I'd never buy longbeaches or horizons ... and all those other cheapo ciggies, for the reason that they taste like crap because the tobacco's been tainted with addictive chemicals which increase the effect of nicotine, and thus gets you hooked!
You will also know, if you are a reformed smoker, that it is awfully hard to quit, even if you're not addicted to the nicotine ... as your lungs go through a de-toxification stage where you have about a month of dry coughs ... which can be very painful.
I've been through that stage - and once you're over it ... you say you'll never touch another cigarette for ages, but when you get drunk ... you still get the urge to smoke.
You just have to take into account that cigarettes also have their benefits ... they're a stimulant, they help introverted people gain confidence, they help others relax ... among other things ... some people would just say that the pros outway the cons ... though you could lose your arms, legs, sight and life from doing it.
... and if you think these disgusting campaigns are making a difference ... count how many doctors smoke ... your GP may smoke like a train when you're not looking!!!
