2nd gen KLZE chip Install.

OK I had many people ask and needed to to do this, since the sale of the ZE and first gen Chips. If anyone is interested in the chip. Check out the Bulk buy area or PM me if you need more info. These chips are for the KLZE motor and the first gen GT f2t motors. But this is a write up on the 2nd gen Chip install.

Ok lets start off by installing the chip you will need the basics. A good phillips screw driver, You will also need a soldering iron and a desoldering pump or solder wick to remove the chip properly and without damaging the chip. Also it's best to have a anti electric static soldering iron. Cause we all know static can kill a ecu.

The guy that does the chip, installs the chip for only 25.00 bucks extra and that is not a bad price. Thats also including the shipping back to you. If you dont have the tools it would cost you probably this much for a cheapy one at Radio Shack. Also this will be done with professional tools. heres his table where the chips are installed. All this is ESN safe.

Ok if your this far and you have your soldering tools out and ready to go here are the basics steps.

1st. pull your ecu out. lol.

2nd. there are 4 screws that hold the top cover on. one on each corner. there kinda inthere tight so make sure you dont strip the screws. pres down hard and turn. mine only have 2 cause I test all the chips that go out. Well 99% of the time.

3rd. pull the cover off you will see this now. Sorry my camera sucks. but there are 4 screws pretty much in each corner again. Pull those out.

4th. then you will pull back the top board gently like this.

5th. then where my thumb is at that is where you want to desolder the chip. my chip is installed on this pic so your chip will look different, usually its the only chip with a sticker on it with numbers. I wont go into detail on how desolder only cause if your this far I hope you know how. basically once you desolder the chip your going to solder in the socket I give you with the the new eprom chip. This will let you convert back to your stock chip if you want to. Pay close attention when installing
your socket and chip that they are all soldered in the correct direction. if you try to start your car and it dont work turn the chip around...

Well hope this helps guys. Im not into soldering but I know we have a bunch of do it your selfers and that is great. So hopefully this will help. I know there is probably a ton of better write ups out there on other sites, but here is another one....

So will the chip have markings on it to make sure it is "soldered in the correct direction" as you mentioned

it comes with a socket so if it dont start, turn it around. Plus there is a arrow on the chip and it should face the inside of the board. Any questions dont hesitate to pm me or post here.

I think just about any competent computer shop should be able to help you out

1993 Mazda MX6 [RF] - hardly ever driven but still money burnt on it
2006 Honda CBR600rr - daily driver/rider and potential death machine
