M-Edition 3 cd stacker question

heres whats going on
the aftermarket deck in my car is crapping out so id like to put back the 3 CD stacker that my car came with from the factory.
my problem is that the cassette player crapped out a long time ago, so i cant control the volume. My question is can i use any similar cassette player with the CD player or does it have to have the exact same model number to be compatable?

I would think you've got to find some head unit that accepts the plug from the 3CD stacker. (You probably already thought of that, but you didn't say so... ) I don't remember what the 3CD player plug looks like. FWIW, the 3CD player is a dumbed down alpine design. Maybe an old alpine head unit?

Cruise some junk yards for 626's... or I've got the old OEM cassette / radio if you want. It's been in a closet for the past eight years.

BTW, the 3CD player is just gonna crap out on you too.

thats sad. i dont have alot of money to throw around so i thought a nice $20 fix would be wonderful. the stacker was working wonderfully when i had the car but was unable to adjust the volume because of the bad cassette player volume knob. thanks for the help
