Sorry bout that. I have 2 900 watt sony Xplod 12's, i bought them from a friend...so i dont have the air space requirments. the box is too large for me, and would like to make something a little bit smaller. i would attempt to describe the dementions of the box, but its wierd... there like an innerportion with a mirror at the bottom, and the subs are at an angle... and i probobly wouldnt be able to get accurate messurments. Help, thanks

OK, What about 15's
I see alot of talk from members that have 10's and 12's in there trunk, I'm curious to see if anyone else has another way of Puting 15's in the trunk of an MX6???
Right now I'm running 2 AudioBahn AW152T @ 500W, w/ a Kenwood Amp and Kenwood Deck, Still Stock Speakers Though, Haven't had the Money to buy some Good Audiobahn component speakers yet... J ![]() |

Putting big woofers in a second gen is a major PITA, but it can be done with a lot of measuring - or by building the box in the trunk, lol. I still say 15's and 18's sound better, someday the general opinion will agree....

Well, I've already got Them in the Trunk, and yes, I had to build the box in the trunk, and oh boy was it a PITA!!! They Absolutely sound great, I had three 12's in my Hatchback Integra, and I do agree that I love the sound of the 15's. They Drop so much harder.
My next Quest will be to Find an amp to push a clean 500 watts per sub. And keeping the body parts from Falling off. j ![]() |

Pick a size! Mixing sizes doesn't help anything, and only complicates the install. In some extreme SQ competition setups where the crossover points will be staggered and different amplification used - fine. But from 99.999% of the systems out there - including competition setups - make your life a LOT easier and stick with one size sub! That said - there's no way you're gettin' those in a 2nd gen '6 without losing the back seat.

I have a Band pass box in my MX-6. It BARELY fit into the trunk, had to remove the passenger seat and fold down the rear seats to slide it in. Made it myself, researched the design specs and used a 12" Phoenix Gold speaker. It freakin POUNDS!! The one good thing about having such a huge box, theres NO WAY anyone can ever steal it from the trunk, it'll never come through the back opening!
PLUS if u fold down one of the rear seats it creates more room for the air much like a hatchback. |

If you want all three of your subs in your car, you are going to have to loose your back seat or do some major modifying to get all those to fit since it is a convert. I suggest selling all three of those and going with something else that requires less space. Like a xtant hex sub. or a JLw7. Also just to let you know that a convertable is the worst car for any sound system cause it doesn't let the bass bounce like a hardtop. But it still can sound good.

If I read your post correctly, you are wil.ling to lose your back seat? If that's the case, it represents the only way to get REAL bass up to your location in a convertable mustang, and you could pick up a good bit of functional storage space as well if you're creative with the install.... Way more useful than what Ford calls a back seat, anyway!

What would you think if the subs were set up like this:
http://www.mx6.com/forums/showthread...ight=enclosure (How much would the fiberglassing cost on this?) I dont know the dimensions but you could pretty much eyeball how much room there is behind the sub, how would that perform? |

I have a wide box that was made for a truck that was given to me and i was thinking of selling it to a friend and buying a box that would fit. Then i realized i want to fit my golf clubs, snowboard and a few other thigns that may have to go through the seats and i dont want to have to move hte subs around all the time. So i want to ask if i could split the box i have now in half, like cut through the middle and have 1 sub on each side after i reseal the tips
It seems to make sense in my head to make 1 box made for 2 subs split equally and still be fine at half the size for 1 sub. |
