Dynamat is a waste of money!
For the best result go on ebay and order 100 feet of B Quiet sound dampener its is thicker than dynamat and will cost about 170 with shipping.
It works excellent too i did my trunk in my 2001 protege and my car hit 141 db on the meter with one 10 inch solobaric L5 in a sealed box at .6 cubic feet.
RBlox sound dampener is quite good as well, they are cheaper than dynamat, and higher quality in my opinion, i might be biased though, they are one of my sponsors
from my experiences, dynamat is the only one that actually holds over time. Ive seen alot of the other brands that just wont stick after a few months (and yes I knwo its installed properly, we install anything that is brougth to us)
but any deading will make a difference, We have a car right now that the entire thing has been done, floor, doors, panels, roof, ever the back sides of the fenders with the aresol deadner.
It cleaned up all the road noise, and gave a much chrispier sounds (the customer has money to blow, i think he went overboard, but who am I to tell someone how to spend ther money)
my back stock bumper (im prtety sure thta is wat is rattling) rattles so much. cant hear it from insdie but from behind outside you can this happen to anyone else im gonna have a look at it tomorrow it isnt the number plate cos that is glued on :S
dynamat is way overrated and is way too expensive.
Just search for "liquid sound deadener" All of the liquid sound dampeners are sprayed through a paint gun and are easier to spray into tight spaces. It doesnt smell and it dries to be quite thick actually. You can buy 2 quarts and do your whole car. I did mine and its BY FAR better than dynamat. You can basically spray anything that rattles. The trunk lid was sprayed twice to ensure it wouldnt rattle
All of these liquid industrial strength dampeners are the way to go. Plus they are extremely cheap. You can get a quart for about 25 bucks. Just as long as you have access to a paint gun and an air compresser.

I did my trunk walls/trunk lid/back deck/doors/ front fenders(little bits just to make quiet on fenders no for stereo but road noise) 1 layer thick everwhere and 2 layers on the trunk lid. still get rattles but im messin with 800watt rms at 2ohms 1600 watts max power to 2 10" subs ported box
for all this dynamat costs around 400 bucks to do i also used expanding foam on the trunk lid in the holes filled everything right up used ruffly 2 cans worth. 12 bucks each.
urs looking at 10 hrs and around 450 bucks to do what i did well worth it SPL goes up, rattles go down and ears bleed
I'm mainly trying to quiet down an obnoxious droning from the new dual exhaust- it's a wagon, so there is a cavernous open space behind me that resonates the sound under throttle - do you think this will cut it down 20-30%? I would be happy with that.
Sound damping material would most likely change the frequency (RPM) at which it resonates, more than eliminate it. It would move it down the sclae, though, so it would likely be a less irritating sound...

That would help to - right now the frequency causes a droning now - a lower rumble would be fine - I am hoping for at lease a 20% noise reduction though, if I do the floor and doors, based on what people say about it reducing road and ambient outside noise.
