dampening

i had really bad rattle from trunk lid and back bumper. and could hear it terribly (i have infinty perfect 12.1 , and fully amplified system)
i used dynamat to do the trunk lid and the back wall of the trunk. This cut down the rattle 70% on teh outside and 100% on the inside. although not perfectly quite outside you definately cant hear anything inside .

EDIT:
now have two infinity perfect 12.1 in massive ported bassworx box.... so big too quite the task and time to get it in there.

The couple problems i have.... the spoiler is bad rattle on the outside, along with the back bumper a little bit on the fenders and quarter panels. ON the inside it got worst once i put the second sub in.... the back deck is bad... i have the section reachable from the inside of the trunk done along with the trunk lid and the back wall.... BUT for anyone doing the back deck, DO THE TOP SIDE ALSO... for it cleaned my bass up but the rattle of the back deck is not eliminated just soffened.

the door ports for my mtx 6x8 need to be fixxed in some sort .. lol

basically i need to do a lot of dampening.

when i searched ebay i found some stuff ... 90 $ for 100 sq ft.

i thought this would be good.... but then searched around...

checked out the site posted above... Sound Deadener Showdown

and it really provided insight to some of the technical specs....
unfortunately it had no information to the dampening skills when installed on the entire car....

it seems from the information given that Damplifier Pro and Dynamat extreme were the choices.... but dynamat extreme was said to be over priced and posted above.

My trunk rattles sooo much i can not stand it. I have a power ful stereo with two twelve inch subs in the trunk. The thing pounds. But as it pounds i hear more rattling than anything.

I have read through this whole thread and I am wondering which to use, Or just take it to car toys and get it done by them. and if i do that what will the quality be?

I am new to my car and I am trying to learn alot about it. Should i let car toys do it? Or trust myself with a roll of RAAMmat BXT like the showdown approves of?

I went and asked Curcuit City about letting them install Dynamat...i know it takes a very long time to prep and install it. I forgot how much they wanted per hour to install it...but it was ridiculous. From what ive heard its good stuff. But take a while to install.

The brand is far less important than how it's applied and whether you're using the right material/technique for the rattle in question. I.e., if a specific rattle is caused by a cable running through a panel, adding any brand of mat to that panel is going to change the sound of the rattle, but not eliminate it; the proper material and technique would be to get some foam tape or other such thing in there to isolate the cable, obviating the need to put mat on the panel (which probably doesn't need it 'cuz it's not the problem). Make sense?

Just like the first post says - take the time to track down and eliminate each specific rattle and vibration until all you're getting is the panels that vibrate on their own, making noise without other things contacting them. THEN add mat of any brand. I have reduced the trunk and rattle noise in many vehicles by over 90% without a single scrap of any mat material of any brand, lol. It generally costs less than $20 for some foam batting and some foam tape, and a lot of time tracking down where to put it. After that, if you want to go to town with some kind of mat to reduce road noise and maybe the odd vibration here & there, have at it.

I cant agree more ... clean the surface use a heatgun/dryer to warm the material before you place it.

Spray foam or Sound deadening can accomplish the same thing if done correctly

Most times a scraper works well. I dont know I've never used the stuff myself, but thats just what I've been told.
