EOI: (SA) Camping/Cruise Aus. day wkend
Well ok... this is an Expression Of Interest, so here we go:
My Bday is on the 25th of Jan, and is on a Thursday, which means Australia day is on friday and :. it will be a 3-day weekend, due to this my gf and I are heading to Hillocks Point Caravan and Camping site (AKA Butlers Beach) for the long weekend to celebrate me becoming of the elderly (im turning 20 /cry) so here is the deal, if anyone is interested: We leave from the Bunnings Parafield (off Main North road) and head to Pt Wakefield and few other town along the way till we get to Hillocks Point (I will get the exact route later tonight). Yes this is a long drive (around 600km t.a.b.) it is a 3hr drive each way, but for those who like camping, drinking and (when sober) fishing, this is a place for you! Other attrations include hiking, walking, swimming, Bodyboarding/surfing and snorkeling. The fishing is bloody UNREAL there, of course you dont have to eat what you catch, but you are quite welcome to do so (Fish of beach = Tommies and brim(?) and occasionally whiting, Off the rocks you get Sweep, Trumpet, Cod and occassionally the odd brim(?))... now dont get me wrong, it isn't paradise, it is dusty but they have hot showers and proper dunnies aswell... you can also hire one of their permanent caravans set up, but however the vans do not have electricity or working fridges... and of course you can set up a tent (I find tenting it to be more fun)... also there is more then just butlers beach in the area so you can head over ther nearby beaches wihin the same camping site... now for the bad parts: No motorbikes unless they are road registered. I have some pictures of the main beach (Butlers) if you want me to post them up, this beach is EXTREEMLY clean and a great site, so plz if you come, dont littler, it'll be a shame to see it turn into a shyte hole and you would be putting a bad name out for the club! ya bring a few mates aswell if you want... Ok now time for the prices, these are straight from Mrs Butler and she's a lovely old lady... CAMPING OR OWN CARAVAN - $10 Per car, Per night, up to 4 people per car. HIRING CARAVAN - $30 per night and same rules as above... (may i remind you, you are still basically camping in the caravans, however they do have a stove and oven) well that's basically it on prices, except there is a $10 deposit on the gate key which you get refunded on return of the key) So really it isn't expensive and you could do the camp on well under $200 considering it'll only be $30 to stay there camping and 2 tanks of motion lotion... but yeah. The things you need bring include: Tent (if you camp), Cutlery and utensils (caravans have limted but have the basics), Drinking water (caravan water is rain water, and i didn't get sick when i drank it), Bedding (a must), airbeds (cept when in caravan), food (a must) chilly bins (a must) canned food (well it aint gonna go bad again is it?) extra smokes (if you smoke) a SMALL generator (optional if available, it's nice to have lights) jumper cables (well, optional, but i would like at least 3 sets) clothes (obvious i know, but you will need clothes for very warm and very cold) bug deterant (unfortunatly a must, helps keep the bugs and flies away as they get annoying when at the camp site) Fishing Equipment (optional, hand line are pretty much useless due to the fishing spots but they can still be used) Extra fishing line (a must if you bring fishing equipment, rigs are easily lost) Extra money (a must, for the just incase) Alcoholic beverages (well who doesn't like sipping on a cold one after a days fishing and swimming) Garbage bags (a must as no-one leaves till camp site/caravans are cleaned!) Body/Surfing boards (a must) Snorkeling gear (a must, trust me, you want to bring some flippers and snorkeling gear) Fold/pack up BBQ and Gas bottle (at least 1 per 2 cars, coz other wise, you not cooking very much without one!) and MUNCHIES! i think that's just about everything on the list, if i missed something lemme know... there is a shop there with SOME fishing gear and bait, also has muchies ice creams, drinks and the usual (whatever they dont have marion bay is only a 15km drive), also they have a rubbish depot b4 the gate so you dont needa take ya rubbish home... oh yes 1 more thing, Boats, yes you can bring them, but no there is not a ramp in the hillocks point area, however there is one at marion bay and there is another one at foul bay nearby... my god that's a long post, if you have any q's feel free to ask also for more information on site seeing and stuff phone Hillocks Drive on (08) 88544002 between office hours. Peace out... Selva. p.s. it'll be nice to have at least some interest. |
