Gee I think it was me who mentioned this about oh say 2 years ago about powersteering fluid
PS fluid is Hydrolic fluid or in the automotive world Drexon 2 or 3. But Drexon 3 is what you need.
To remove- this is my trick, Plastic milk container empty (can leave some for a nice look)
Go get an empty or not empty Spray trigger pack - EG Windex or even your favourite car wheel cleaner. remove it and use only the trigger on top.
Place the trigger hose into your power steering tank place nossle end into the milk container. AND NOW SPRAY. It take a bit of time but you will find quite quickly.
Now kick over the PS pump but not the motor by giving short burst to the starter motor. You will find a bit more to end up in the tank and remove it.
Now use your PS fluid or larger ATX fluid what ever you bought but make sure it's drexon 3 it's the best stuff and last a very long time.
Fill it to max.
Now start the car, it should bubble a bit then settle.
Now turn wheels left to right left to right. If your 4WS shuts down reset- by turning off car. Continue to turn left and right. Keep car running 5 mins most buble in tank should be gone top up to max.
If you end up with like wash in the top EG like a good head on a beer. let it settle by leaving top off and leave untill they go and start again. It shoudl not reapear. BUt do turn the wheel left to right for the next few starts, this should make sure that all air bubbles are gone. A easy way is to drive the sucker and do a few reverse parks or even just a few u turns. It's a self bleeding system and you should find it bleed after all that.
It usually does not take much.
there you are done PS fluid changed over with out a problem in either 1st or 2nd gen.
HMM I thin kthats the 30th imte I wirrten something like this up.
maybe some good Mod should pasted it somewhere important. Like alot of stuff I wirte up
I don't need karma just a place where all my good information is taken to.
