Well kids, it's registered in my name now! What a muck around trying to do that! Speak to VIcRoads over the phone and they say that all you need to register a car in vic from interstate is a current vic RWC, prove of purchase and identity.

Great, nice and easy, until you get there........'Oh no, you're meant to make a booking".......farkers. So you wait around for 1.5 hours to get the next appointment and then they pick on problems within their system that you have no control about! For example, according to their vehicle details, the car is a SILVER 626. 3 seater......and a sedan. Pity how the GV designation is only for the wagons hey?

Anyways, after it was amended, I ended up with a set of slimline plates. I got it home and refitted the 17's and also bolted up the 300mm brakes for some road testing

Pics to come.

Far out sounds easier then in NSW - except in NSW RTA don't even have to look at it

you can have 17's and BOv and what ever it's all about the CAsh industry

Thank them Bad liberial governments of the late 80's early 90's Mr Nick Grinner YEs USER PAYS system. Yes we pay for plates yearly but what ever you want You pay LOL

Always good and a bad.

In some cases The GV's are listed as GE's tha'ts brilliant as well. because then SOHC don't belong there

If your talking about this - Mazda 626 GV 92- station wagon

That's a 1023, not a 1124. Might be worth giving them a ring to check though, if it is a 1124 thats a bargain for all the front end conversion parts.

I did ring them, and I asked them if it looked a bit like GD front end, and they said nup...totally different....from that i'd guess it was an 1124, but I didnt eyeball it, otherwise I could let you know for sure.

from that i doubt its a 1023...i was looking for a 1023 cut as its the same as a GD essentially..thats the reason I rang them in the first place...

it would have been good value for 250

So I finally had some time to drop the car in at the panel shop. I got the front end colour matched and painted. The mirrors looked a little daggy, so I had him put some colour on them also.

The pics tell the story.

I'm planning black on mine gloss allround what is not passion rose is black what's no either . I'll paint purple or gold

I was going to paint the mirrors black, but that I might as well keep them factory spec. I thought about painting the mount as well, but thought it would be too much colour. May have been overpowering.

I haven't seen a nose lip for the bonnet, but I have seen the MazdaSpeed lip kit. the front lip has the middle section missing to suit the nudge bars. I haven't seen a rear lip kit yet.

I've got some chrome Capella door sill trims coming from Japan at the moment. I will also be getting the factory driving lights to fit in the front bar, which I'll hook up to a stock driving light switch also.

The only thing that sucks is no clear sside indicators anywhere.

Even the GV1023 in japan used what we had on the GV1021 and GD 1021. As we got the Eruo compliant front end.

but the bonnet lip or nose different grill more slender looking and lip covers across both lights- like eye lids and and grill.

Fog lights will look good. If you can get the seperate switch as well. More fun.
Kind [shizzle] aus ones didn't get them

Update:

I took the wagon down to RE customs for the club membership renewal day. I thought I'd throw the wagon on the dyno for [shizzle]s and giggles. I won a price! Lowest power output for the day! 48.9kw atw! BooYah!

I was travelling along the freeway Sunday afternoon and the car started pinging badly, followed by the temp gauge going off the scale. Head gasket, Exit Stage left...... It idled pretty roughly and I pulled off the freeway and called a mate who has a towing company. Unfortunately he was at a BBQ living it up, so he couldn't help. He did do the call around for me, but to no avail. So the decision was made to drive it home, as the engine and box was going to be removed soon enough to make way for the turbo motor/manual box combo.

The trip home was eventful to say the least. The car was about 15 mins from home, with it running rough and the temp gauge up past the hot marker on the gauge. As we took off, there was a nice cloud of steam and oil coming from the exhaust. It cleared up and the car started running much nicer, if it could. It was a bit rattly and had a slight knock to it, until we got to a petrol station.

Upon arrival, there was a big pile of oil under the car and there was oil everywhere under the bonnet. It looks like the rocker cover was being pressurised by the exhaust gases, mixed with the oil and the water. 1 litre of oil was bought and thrown into the angry motor and we set off. The car seemed to drive ok after this, with the temp gauge still off the dial. The game plan was the limp it home by coasting down the hills and using light throttle when needed. The car survived this for close to 10 minutes, partially due to a big decent down a hill where I had it in neutral. The temp gauge didn't move at all.

we started to come up to a red traffic light at a local shopping area, and I decided to turn in so I didn't have to stop incase the engine stalled and wouldn't start again. Almost as soon as we turned the corner it went BANG!! with it dropping it's guts of oil and water everywhere. I actually thought the radiator split, but this was not the case. The rocker cover had become so pressurised that all the water/oil finally found a way out past the rocker cover gasket. Once this had happened and we sat in a steaming mess, she started right up again without an issue.

In fact, she idled much better and the temp gauge dropped due to it having no water to boil. I got it home easily from there and it still ran quite nicely considering the major blown head gasket. After turning it off for a while, it started back up again no probs.

Monday Night the engine and box came out, well kinda.... The chain that was holding the engine up snapped in half. Luckily no one was underneath it at the time.

More exciting updates to come so stay tuned.
