spotted an interesting part

hey all , i was up at Mazparts today in midland area of perth. i asked about the mx6 grill that has a mesh look to it for my 91 626 GD and the guy there showed me a whole aftermarket bumper with the grill part on it. considering he wants like $80 for the little grill thing i dont think that bumber is in my budget range so might be worth a look. it looked as though it needed alittle work along the bottem and a respary.

ok now 2 questions. 1: is there a place in perth that u can buy mesh about the size of a 626 grille , supercheap and all only sell the big stuff.

2:what is a rough est for getting a 91 626 GD lowered on the cheap , what would it require . not sure if its just springs or the shocks aswell.

Hi mate, didnt know your another perthy, where abouts in perth are you?

For mesh, if you dont want the super[shizzle]e option, try bunnings, they have all sorts of stuff, might be able to find some metal mesh there somewhere.

For lowering, most people i know (including myself) have used WA suspensions, its in ozzy park. Your spring options sorta depend on your budget, but for cheap and low king springs should work, lovvels are another option but they dont sit as low as the kings, however they seem to ride nicer. To lower it cheap your just looking at new springs, it will ride nicer if you get new struts, but there expensive (depending on what you get of course). I seem to remember it being around 300$ for a set of springs for mine (lovvels) (93 626, so tecnically a 2g around this place)

Another option is ebay has kings on there for 1g's for around the 275+ shipping mark, then its just installing, if you have spring compressors you can do this yourself, or WA suspensions will do it for a couple of hundred (id check them for a quote though)

I've known some people to goto scrap metal places and find some nice bits of mesh...

Place on Gnangarra Road might be ideal.

have guys thanks for the info , im in port kennedy down past rockingham. the grill i have is as shown
>

although the badge fell off when i was cleaning it one day so i painted the grill with gray primer and the car now has the 2 front windows tinted and the black strip thing is roughly the same colour as the car. i think ill just make my own grill that way i can have a bigger mesh area which i think will look better.

i was looking lastnight for some 17" rim+tyre packages and came across a lowering kit for $450 installed. ill just have to wait and see i think with bigger rims the gap from the fenders and wheels wouldnt look that bad.
if i make a grill ill let the one i have go for about nothing i guess.

the best and strongest mesh to use is security door mesh (crim safe)

its a rigid steel fly screen can be cut with tin snips drilled to screw it on ,as for lowering these cars are a bit of a pain for parts springs are about $200 "don't get super lows it will sit on bump stops & drive like *#@^ just lows are good & personaly don't use king springs use pedders or k-mac, as for shocks not much & expensive try find some in wreckers ,i have koni adjustables for an mx6 4ws which take a bit of crap to fit & cost a fortune .there is a company in qld that cut open the standard shocks fit beter valves & hevier oil & can shorten the shaft if required called wwshock absorbers there might be something similar in perth
ps the mx6 dosen't have a headlight filler the crome strip under the lights its built into the bumper & grill,so on a gd 626 the grill is to big too thick at the bottom

i know the headlights have to come off, then you should be able to see the bolts to take the bumper off, some are in the wheel arch, i was rather, erm, under the influence when we were taking the bumper off. looks orright, give it a spray, needs a fmic behind it though

yeah needs some filler and a spray , i was thinking its way to transparent and i didnt know if a fmic would go on a stock engine ?. i was looking around the headlights and they seem just as tricky to take off lol, quick question the lights in the front next to the indicators , are they the complimentary lights "i think thats wat they are called" basicly the first stage of lights

I used some Allum mesh I got off a mate for nothing, just spare and painting it up with some paint I had lying around, came up good (not on the 626), when its on I'll get pics for ya.
I've got pedders struts and they go pretty well if a bit harsh over sharp bumps.

Hey Cheif! I got the same grille! :P

EDIT: WTF? When did I become a "veteran"?
