Grin Lets Dump Power Steering!!

Hello one and all!!

My power steering pump is on the fritz but lets face it i dont really care. My question is can i remove power steering easily from my car? I much rather no power steering anyways so this does work in my favour.

If i did stop/remove power steering would this affect my road worthy if i went for one? Also would it require a mod plate? Surely no but its best to check. If its easy ill do it this weekend when i fit my new speedo cable.

Thanks for the help everyone, and all you QLDers out there remember to be careful of snakes at wreckers around this time of the year. Saw a massive brown snake at yatala wreckers today. Needless to say i [shizzle] myself

I've removed mine without issue. I removed the pump and the main lines to/fro the pump. I bled out all of the fluid then capped them. Besides being a pain in the ass to parallel park, it's not bad. Torque steer is more prominent though.

It would be best if you could find yourself a manual rack..but you might have to look towards our EU counterparts, as they have an abundance of non-power steering GD's

I see you trollin I be ragin
postin' bout to get teh banned

You can remove it without issue. Just take all the lines out, pump, brackets etc. You can get a NON PS rack from a GL model AT/AV Telstar. They were the base model with carby engine, some had PS but some didnt.

You shouldnt need any mod plates for removing it, if you take all the lines out too nobody will even know it ever had PS.

mine had the pump there, we just changed pulleys so that it wasn't in the loop.
torque steer was indeed quite strong but i liked it coz I could wrestle it under control.
does suck having a tiny steering wheel.
never actually driven one with P/s but i get it back l8 next week so I'll see then
