have you tried banging the extractor around using a punch or chisel? the next step might be to go in with a dremel and try and grind away enough of the bolt to get access to the extractor.... then maybe grind a couple of grooves into the extractor, so a pair of side cutters can get a good grip on it?
hopefully you can get the extractor out, so we'll be back to just dealing with the bolt... how deep did you drill the small holes? do you think there's a chance that you can drill all the way through, and the bolt can be squeezed together? Last edited by cheapohubby : 8-5-08 at 22:41. |

...plan has changed! Took a shortcut, and bought msequence's beast; now my old girl is being parted, and I get to work on fixing up the new beast!

Well, the extractor finally came out; we did exactly as CheapoHubby said, ironically before reading his post. But yeah, whacked it around a bunch and then it finally pulled out.
So now this morning I'll be tapping the hole to rethread it, then hopefully Barun can get the water pump and timing belt on today, and get it all ready to drop into the car this afternoon. As for today and the weekend, Barun'll be here as long as he'd like to be, I'll be taking off tonight around 5 because its my friend's birthday. For Saturday and Sunday, you'd have to ask Barun what his working hours are, but my saturday is terrible; Sunday's much better. But with any luck we'll have the engine in today so that he can wire it up and everything. Then Barun can do stuff like that whenever he pleases, if I'm not available, but I foresee progress this weekend. ![]() |

Hmmm..... I'm guessing that if the engine was up and running, there'd be a major celebratory posting.... So; what's the latest news?

Dropped in the engine last Sunday. Now we have to hook up transaxles, crossmember, y-pipe to collectors, radiator, hoses, electrical connections, ac condensor & bracket, p/s, pulleys, drivebelts, distributor, alternator, intake manifold, fluids, slave cylinder & anything else if I've forgotten.

Well, l don't see the celebratory update yet, so I assume that BShark's been out enjoying driving his MX6 entirely too much over the last few days.
![]() Thursday night we had it up and running, timed it, set idle, etc... So basically Friday Barun just had to finish up putting in his headlights, replace the exhaust bolt he broke, and then clean it all up. And based on the lack of an extra MX6 in my drive by Sunday night, I'd say he's rolling. ![]() |

Final Update
LoL at Kevin's post
![]() After doing fluids & timing and getting it started up on Thurs (and a quick celebratory shawarma), the only thing left was replacing the bolts on the headers. Massive rust forced me to have only 1 bolt holding the y-pipe to each collector, so it sounded like a Harley/nasty ricer. Got that done yesterday night, so now it's in a performance shop getting the brakes touched up, a complimentary full out cleaning (score!) and my 17" Motegi chrome rims fitte on ![]() After that, I'm hoping to get tint & a 2-way alarm installed, my audio system after that would be great Here's an idea --Paul suggested we all do a cruise that leads to someplace we can all have dinner. I'm def up for that idea, I believe Kevin is too. I'll open a thread & make some calls to u guys to gather interest |

i'd be up for that... if my stupid insurance company (that I already cancelled my policy with to move to a different company) didn't take my renewal payment out of my account when they said they wouldn't and leave me with not enough money to pay the down payment to the new company! soooo pissed.

Congratulations on getting the car up and running again!!!
Sounds like you've really got yourself some ambition happening with all the other stuff you're doing to it; maybe one of these days I'll get some of that ambition myself (and at least get my beast running again!). I'd certainly like to stay in the loop on any planned meets; if nothing else, we can have the sixes in a circle around our little smartie! ;-) |

So how does that engine run ?. It sat for a while, so be gentle on it until your sure the coolant and oil pressure is good.
Do you have heat from the heater ? |
