E-test hot rod status for an Eunos

Can any one confirm that you can pass an e-test if you have a engine that did not come with your car, even as an optional engine.

Like an Eunos 800 engine in rather than a klze

I think that the e-test rules say that the engine must be from another model or make of car or it may share the same engine block only. that's why the eunos can be tested under hot rod status.

Mind you I had to talk the test guy into it. I popped the hood and showed him how the engine does not fit and it actually rubs on the hood. And I gave him a note from the JDM engine guy saying it was an from and eunos 800.

I passed all three tests but the nitrides which means my egr was not working.

I tested at 1000no and the normal limit was 500no but with the hot rod test the normal limit was 1000no.

mind you I still don't have the vac lies right . If I am driving at 100 KPH and let off the gas quickly the engine light comes on with code P1150

I will look into it this winter while I fix the power window button and add a module to control all the windows to close when I lock the doors.

my egr is hooked up. it just didn't work. after looking at the vacuum diagram i realized i don't have the erg boost solenoid. after i put one in and ran it for a while the check engine light came on.

Do you know some one that has the eunos and passes e-test. we need a separate forum for Eunos people.

The rule for Hot Rod status is the engine displacement (ie 2.5L for a ZE) has to be different than that of the stock engine(s) for that year/make/model.

so anyone with a probe or 6 with a ZE, sorry you need to find somebody who will fake it for you, but a MX3 with a ZE would be tested as a hot rod, since those only came with a 1.8L and 1.6L engines.

im pretty sure of this, I do emissions tests every day.
