So as we know, it is very difficult to get a KLZE to pass the Ontario emissions test just straight up due to a lack of a functioning EGR. People have mentioned testing as hotrod.
KVR Performance Inc. here in Ottawa is a performance shop and they allow people to test their car as hotrod if there is an engine swap. You need to create an affidavit attesting that the engine installed is not native to a USDM vehicle.
Here is my original e-test results from a regular test centre:
KVR e-test results. I think the higher numbers are because I e-tested it straight out of storage, but wow is that a huge jump from the first e-test:
youngfan also had his KLZE MX-6 successfully e-tested at KVR. I hope this information helps you out.

Does that mean you figured out what your idling problem was?
I find it strange that they're allowing such a huge difference in test results. Effectively, they're making "hot rods" exempt from testing. I can understand the concept of making "show" cars with limited mileage an exemption; but not "daily driver" cars.
Oh well; congrats anyway on getting it through the test!
...plan has changed! Took a shortcut, and bought msequence's beast; now my old girl is being parted, and I get to work on fixing up the new beast!

If you read the first post of this thread you will find your answer.
But to help you out anyways...did it have an engine swap to an engine not originally available in the Canada or US or to an engine that is not originally made for the 93-97 Mazda MX-6? If your answer is no to either, then no, you cannot get it tested as a hotrod. If it's not passing the e-test with the original engine, that means there's something wrong with it and you're better off getting the problem fixed than trying to go around it.

motor doesn't smoke or anything and has great power also , no hesitation.. everytime i take it for a nice rip.. it smells like eggs or something, and none of the cars i own become carbonized lol i'm gonna try some throttle body cleaner and injector cleaner to see if that helps.. but yea my car has a JDM KLZE swap so it should be classified as hotrod... but the thing is most etest places need that writing on the ownership or have a receipt from a mechanic saying that this motor is not available in us n canada.. just wondering how you guys passed hotrod..
If it smells like eggs, you need to replace your catalytic converter. Do some research in the 2G General section on (like I said) how to solve problems instead of just going around them.
