Hi Guys,

I walked out to my car this morning and saw a flat tyre. Rear right. I have 17" on my car but the spare is the stock 15" that was originally on the car.

1)Would it be OK to put the 15 on the rear with the other side still on 17's?
2)Don't think i will be able to drive 100kmph with this situation right? My work is a 30km drive.

3)Just out of curiosity, what tyre pressure do you guys use on the rear and fronts with 17" tyres. The sticker said 32 and 28 for stock wheels.
thanks guys

Ratte from belt, stops once warm.

Hooookkkk..so....

Have had this problem over the last month or so, but never took much notice as I only drive the 626 on weekends now.

I get a rattling sound from the timing belt region, towards the rear of the engine. Gets louder under the throttle.

Once the car gets to normal operating temperature, it stops and the car is fine.

Any ideas?

Edit: I just noticed my spelling fail in the title...can a mod please fix that? :p

Hi guys, new here and need advice. While I'm not a mazda owner ( dont flame me) I am a fan of their engines. I have a Kia sportage and was thinking of going down the stroker road, but, if a F2T engine will bolt straight in why would I go through the drama of stroking the FE3. I'm after torque not RPM. What do you guys/gals reckon ??

Cheers.

PS, I might have a FE3 for sale depending on the advice

hey guys my car overheated yesterday in a strange way , i was driving along and water came splashing into my feet and the passengers side foot area, then the car temp gauge went max, after i pulled over and let it sit for 10 mins and checked the water levels it drove 40km or so without problems.

then lastnight i got about 1km down the road and it was heating up again.

now thismorning my dad went out and put water in the radiator and was calling me an idiot for not doing that lol "note i know nothing about cars", but we are both stumped as to where this water came from. it was coming out of the aircon foot vents all up maybe just under a lt of water. my dad said the aircon runs on gas so its not from that ?

so what do u guys think ?

Wanna get my paint on, but where? [Perth]

Hi all, I am finally in a position where I am saving some money again, and I intend on blowing it all on sorting my old 6.

For those of you in Perth that have seen possible the filthiest midnight blue 2g MX6.... well that's me. You see, the "Dirty Mexican" as it has become known, used to reside in the harsh sun and weather, and as such, is looking a lot worse for wear. The clear coat started to peel, rust bubbles started raising up on the sunroof. And for a moment I felt motivated enough to learn to paint the Mexican myself, sanding down the bonnet, boot and bumpers....aaaand... that's it. I have since lost that motivation and am looking to get it professionally sorted out.

So I put it to you guys, where do I go and who do I contact regarding getting a respray (as the hidden painted areas in the door sills and under the bonnet are all still mint condition - I figure it would be most sensible to just get the same colour). Also, is it possible to grind down the rust, patch it up and spray over it? What kind of costs would I be looking at to do all this roughly? And one last question, the black seals around the windows has all but dried up, cracked, and fallen off - where would I go for some nice resealing?

Appreciate your help in getting the Mexican across the border!

Car no start.... No clue why

Ok the car doesnt start - here is the background.

the noise from my gearbox thats been there all year finally got rather loud and then the car died (fortunately on the driveway). Pulled the box out to find a completely stuff bearing, no matter, put a different box in.

Reconnect everything, fire the car, starts first go. Turn it off and go pack up then come back to give it a test drive. Starts first go and I drove it for about 5km. Turned the car off and came back inside, got changed and went back down to the car (was going out). Turn the key and it splutters horribly and no start. Try again it starts, splutters and dies. Didnt have time to fiddle then so jumped in a different car.

Today tried again, wont even splutter now, just cranks.

Spark is good

Fuel is good.

battery charge was low so dumped it on charge, came back later, no go again. Still lots of cranking though.

The cranking does sound different though, instead of a sound which has a clear rhythm and beat to it its almost a constant sound.

Wondered if it was the starter motor so dumped my spare one in - no difference.

Pulled codes and got an interesting result - turned the key and the LED came on, never turned off. So no flashes, nothing, just constantly on.

Checked all electrical connections and vacuum lines and couldnt find a problem

I have no idea what it could be since the car was running and then after a couple mins wouldnt start....

Any ideas???

thanks!

Lets Dump Power Steering!!

Hello one and all!!

My power steering pump is on the fritz but lets face it i dont really care. My question is can i remove power steering easily from my car? I much rather no power steering anyways so this does work in my favour.

If i did stop/remove power steering would this affect my road worthy if i went for one? Also would it require a mod plate? Surely no but its best to check. If its easy ill do it this weekend when i fit my new speedo cable.

Thanks for the help everyone, and all you QLDers out there remember to be careful of snakes at wreckers around this time of the year. Saw a massive brown snake at yatala wreckers today. Needless to say i shit myself :p
