I know this is kind of off topic for this section but, it doesn't much apply any any other section!
There is a lot of talk about the fe3 in mx6, 626, b2200 ext well I'm thinking.....
Why would anyone incuding mazda/kia engineers want to put fe3 in Kia sportage/b2200? I would much rather have my F2t in a kia sportage as more tq would provide more pulling power/low end tq ext! Also the turbo could help for efficetincy! There are so many reasons I can think of to want a f2t in a sportage instead of fe3!
-Btw I do think the fe3 is a great motor for car app. I feel its not so much of a truck/suv engine!
I know a few ppl and forums are on here for swaping N/A f2 for fe3 in b2200. I'm wondering if anyone has or in the past on here had a f2t b2200/sportage?

pyrometer thermocouple placement?

Just wondering where guys are running their pyrometers on these vehicles. Is there a large temp. drop across the turbo? The reason I ask is I'd LIKE to go pre-turbo for the temp. drop reason, but I'll also be watching AFR so as long as the temp is CLOSE to accurate I'm happy.

I've just seen one too many photos of the thermocouple tip breaking and passing through the turbo, where if I go post turbo, I've got nothing to worry about back there.

Also, is there a particular cylinder on these engines known for being hotter than the rest? If that is the case I'll likely install it in the exh. manifold at that point to keep an eye on that.

Cracked Turbine Housing 88 Mx-6 GT

While inspecting my parts before re-assembling the cylinder head (got hot b/c the wrong thermostat was used, but that's a story for another day), I noticed that my Turbine housing was cracked! I had noticed the coolant leaking and thought it may be the gasket. I went to my local IHI Turbo parts dealer and the turbine housing isn't available. Welding shops dont want to work on it and I have called all of the salvage/recyclers in my area. Thanks. I gone this far on my first big project and I don't want to stop. But I dont have the $1,600 for the "new" turbo

Any Ideas on where I could get a Turbine Housing or repair this one?

Thanks

Need boost help!!!

Ok I bought this 1st gen mx6 from stealth and after I put on the Greddy Profec B I blew the turbo after it was spiking to 20 plus lbs. So I bought 2 stock Vj11 turbos from a guy who was building an F2T. The 1st turbo was used with zero shaft play and the 2nd was a rebuilt turbo that wasnt installed. So I put on the used turbo 1st and again blew it up using the ProfecB. So I put on the rebuild and took the profec b off and put in a Forged MBC and now the car wont boost passed 10lbs I even took the mbc off and it gos to 10lbs? So i put the mbc back on turned all the way up and it would spike to 15lbs put fall back to 10 rather fast.

My mods:
1. 2.5 dp and mandral bent 2.5 exhuast no muffler
2. Probintaor chip
3. HKS SSQ bov
4. K&N filter

Here is what iv done.

1. Checked for boost leaks. There is none.
2. Added a spring to the wg and this did work kinda.. it held boost when i was in 1st thru 4th but if i just put it in 3rd or 4th it would spike like crazy!
3. Shorted the lines to the MBC
4. Checked for turbo mani lecks. There are none.

now when I had the xsturbo MBC on before it would spike to 15 then fall back to 10. I took it to the track like this and I ran 14.6 @ 93 now I know thats not bad but it wasnt holding 15lbs it was more like 10. the thing is my 8th mile was a 9.3! thast a easy bottom 14sec pass so there is an issue with boost.

Now I dont know why its boosting passed 7lbs when put back to stock but either there is a 10lb spring or the 2.5 custom DP is making it overboost.

ANY IDEAS!!
