dont get me wrong, i LOVE that engine, but it is what it is. and many argue that they dont make even that. (i think they make it just fine at the crank, on the 102 ron they are supposed to use, but dont make it on crap gas everyone feeds them...)
Just asking as I remember seeing that shape of toyota in the US and it was called PASEO.
Peace

The Paseo/Cynos is based on the Starlet, a much smaller car by comparison. The Levin/Trueno are based on the Corolla. The car Fred's shown is the AE111, the last of the great Levins.
If I gave my MX6 as much attention as I gave my Fiero, I'd be around here far more often!
wow its been awhile since ive been on here haha but anyhow that was my setup that AltrEvo posted up way back, thought you guys might wanna see some "newer" (still a year old) shots. It runs pretty good with the rough tune I did last time I was home but its far from perfect. Still a lot I need to do (head work!!!) Im deployed again but should be gettin out soon and actually have time to work on it! Here ya go:
I should be on here a lot more now so I can answer to questions and opinions!
you never know nick, they could have badged the roller hatch as paseo in the states... hell, there is a ford courier here in england, that looks gasp, vomit, like this :
never really understoot the big advantage of itb's. when yoyr full throtle it doesnt matter where the tb is. one big tb is just as good as 4 little ones. and the one you use doesn't have to be 4 times the size of the 4 little ones because each cilinder seprerately inhales trough that tb. the only advantage of using itb's i can think of is because you can play around with the intake cones in the airbox and try different length's while your on the dyno. if youd make a goog airbox you can also do this with one tb.
oh yeah it sure looks nice! i think the whole tb idea came from the old double carburators like weber and delorto. in that case it works.
Last known Levin model in the US to my knowledge was the AE86 Corolla GT-S. It's not really in a class these days, since most small capacity sports models now are hatchbacks, not fastback coupes.

The one above is an AE111, the last of the great 4A-GE powered Corollas. Probably about a 1997. According to teh Wikipedia (not always a reliable source but probably right enough for this claim), the Corolla coupes ended in North America with the introduction of the Paseo/Cynos, when the E100 Corollas started production.
By that, I'd say the last Levin/Trueno/Corolla Coupe model available in the US would probably have been the AE92 between '87 and '91.

Hmmm. They look nothing like that though (The silver Levin)- Thats my point. I can't think of a single Toyota that we got in the U.S that looks like or compares to this:
