Hmm, would go well with an FE3, if you were goin for period-correct you'd use FET, but I still reckon a KLZE would be nice. Looks like it's got enough engine bay room to deal with it.

Must admit a V6 would be fun, but sadly I don't think the engine bay is tall enough (the carby FE 8-valve models have an extra lump in the bonnet just to clear the motor).

I wanna put an FE3 in it because I like the FE - it was just missing a few important technological advances (DOHC & oil-squirters) when it was released, and the FE3 should bolt straight in... (as soon as I work out how to mount the dizzy in the front cover)

Anyways, sorry for hijacking the thread fredio

Ok, here are the two different bellhousings side by side, the one with the bolts holding it to the gearbox is the standard ute one, the other is the standard large van one.

from what i see in pictures, the turboII box is the straight type, so the van bell housing will be sweet with it.

and just for good measure, a pic of the gearbox all cleaned up :

hope this helps some rwd fe3 enthusiast :-)

to allow access to the 10mm head bolts above them that hold the sump on with a long extension and a socket.

90pgt : i can always post you one, although as that US dollar keeps falling, it will look less and less atractive to you. around the 500 to 600NZ mark including postage maybe a little more. maybe a little less. it is big, and with the braces etc, it itsnt light.

there are bound to be these in some of the utes. this ones from a 92 or 93 face lift ford courier, and was the standard box. it had the 12v b2200 behind it (just like your f2t/f2). just go looking at utes and vans and stick your head under until you find one.

On the 12AT box, both the shifter portion and the bellhousing are interchangeable with many other varietys as the box made it into alot of different cars in different forms. The 12AT box having the strongest internals of the range.

what year is the "12at" box from, pre 86 or so all had weaker gears, post that time whatever it is , they all got stronger guts. still not a strong box though. ute mx5, van, rx7 NA, or 12at, they will all die with a boosted fe3 attached. people have prooved it. the one in the lower picture however is good for double the hp of the other. (approx 200, and 400 respectively.)

thanks for the pics, would i be correct to say that the fc3s box is the straight variety, not the twisted one? it looks that way.
