Sustained loss of traction is a thin veil for dangerous driving. The charge is usually a $500 fine, impound 28 days at officer's discretion, 6 months loss. Sometimes they might choose to imprison you instead... they're devious cunning bastards those po-po's.

did i mention my other charge got withdrawn. every time i fight those bastards, i win. i'd see them in court!!

theyd have a hard time proving that doing 15kph round in circles was in anyway dangerous. it certainly is sustained loss, but in no way dangerous.

the location is far away from the main roads, the centre of a valley of suburbia. we had the two main entrances that werent the one we drove along covered. its harmless anyway. and it was sweet.

They don't care - if a wheel chirps or makes a mark because of the driver's use of the vehicle (even innocent reasons like a little much corner exit throttle or excessive brake application) they call it a 'sustained' (by the driver's actions) loss of traction. It's ridiculous.

Hell the tyres on my Corolla at the time were SkyPowers - cheap asian tyres that squeal at the drop of a hat, usually goin around a roundabout at 15kmh would do it... so somehow because of that noise it's a sustained loss of traction...

Stupid po-po. Let's start documenting whenever we see a squadcar or mufti squeal a wheel.

if you didnt actually spin it up much, i would have appeared, and argued the definition of "sustained" there wont be a precedent yet. they hate people defending themselves, if the cop that witnessed it doestn show you default to winning. it can be clearly shown that maximum traction is gained with around 5% slippage, and that 5% slippage usually causes squeal. let them try it on me!!

then they'll care!
