test fitted the turbo in the bay tonight, as i'm getting it clocked tomorrow.

has to be low mount like that one.

finished the wastegate plugging some time ago, have done a lot, and posted little to nothing. no time...

waste gate is assembled and tightened with a norlock washer holding it together, and an fe3 inner valve spring on the opposite side to where the stock 15psi spring would be. ie, all open all the time (for initial tuning.)

cant wait to weld up the mani...

excellent post fred. and that friends, is why the hy35 creeps to 13-14 psi on my kl even with an open gate hole. 22mm is not enough for that darn hy, its one efficient son of a beotch!

ok, update, silvia BOV out, R32 skyline GTR godzilla BOV pair in ;-)

that ought to flow enough and definitely holds the pressure sweet. 2" dedicated feed might be tricky to plumb though, we will see...

just to put the gtr ones into perspective...

the s14 silvia makes about 250ps 240hp, and uses the one on the left :-)

i'm guessing nissan had plans for the skyline above and beyond what they put out stock ;-)

You could probably put a restrictor orifice in one of the lines and get a twin turbo sound as one would open slightly later than the other. We're talking less than a second difference but probably just enough to hear a difference in sound.

I know you could care less about the sound (as could I) but it's definately worth a shot for performance as well as sound. I'm betting you could get a delayed sound of a TT using your single turbo without a loss in performance.

That's all you'll need.

lol, famous last words :-) double that is doable, its only a matter of time, compression and octane.

given that i bumped this to laugh at myself, i thought i'd redeem myself to you by posting a vid i never bothered to edit and post before. its not that great, kinda dull, but good to listen to.

its of the dash of the ute, but you can hear it spooling up at about 2000 part throttle just at the start before my mate laughs, and then some more low and not quite low rpm spooling later. none of it exceeds about 4500 and 12psi. only the last one even comes close to that.

YouTube - low rpm boost holset he351cw

enjoy if you can be bothered.

new info that i just calculated :

i initially calculated 18.2 psi for the wastegate assuming 1:1 exhaust:intake pressure ratio, as you can see in my datalogs, it was pretty close, it made 17.5. i'd forgotten doing those calcs, see first post in this thread for them.

i just worked out what my exhaust back pressure is based on those measurements, and this is it :

Google

20.2 psi in the ex manifold on boost. nice! very efficient. it will be interesting to see where it sits on higher boost pressures as with 0psi in the exhaust manifold there was 3.5psi in the intake. so its obviously not exactly linear.

interesting stuff i thought!
