cams are out, and upper exhaust side is clean. just gotta do intake side, and lower section, (which are half done) and it'll be up to my standards...

will wash it all away into the sump with solvents and diesel and drain the nasty mess out, then do a quick run on some cheap oil, and change to some more clean cheap oil...

gotta love jap maintained cars...

havent had time... got lots of pics in store
got all sorts of [shizzle] to email out, but havent got to it
soon i'll have a bosch 044 to go with my shiney surge tank. i've welded up the wastegate hole etc. should pick up the manifold flange next week. go go go i tell you.

gotta sort out the clutch and flywheel next so i can put the dohca on the new big R box and in the ute! it will be SOOOOO sweet to see it in there. then start wiring and modding my MS2 for ms extra COP code and setting up all the ancilaries

other than that, make trailing arms to stop the diff twisting the leafs and breaking them (from work hardening not sheer power if you are listening fe3t b2200) and remove stainless fastenings....

i can and will post some telstar pics for you soon...

got the head all scrubbed out today, and got two vr6 springs in, with nice clean inner springs, seat, new intake collets, and clean oiled retainers. only 14 more to do... i did however finish a hilux diff to ae86 conversion, and reroute a new exhaust to make more boot space in my mates mx5. if i can be bothered, i'll chuck up a couple of pics...

Send me details on your hilux diff to AE86 conversion... I'm still tossing up if I should go that route rather than installing the T292 that's sitting in my back yard.

Good to hear you're getting a mill sorted out man.

its my mates ae85 20v turbo conversion. he bolted the original diff to a custom wood frame, and then dropped the lux diff in the same mould, and bolted all the brackets to hinged wooden arms that aligned them with the new diff. its not perfect, but its pretty close. certainly close enough. the panhard rod centres the diff, and the rest are not critical in locating it in its place. its accurate to around +-2mm, and i reckon +-6 would be ok.

lux diff with 86 brackets. only way to go.

http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f3...io54/hilux.jpg

lux diff is 8" same as courier/b2000, and has stronger, all be it not two way clutch pack lsd with many more plates than the mazda one.

apparently the older landcruiser is a 9" or so, and if going for big power/much abuse that is the way to go! :-)

so, there you have it, hoping to get more springs in tonight, and drain the slush thats currently soaking in the sump. it can run on some lifter cleaner and ordinary oil for a few days before i sort the flywheel and clutch out, and then get a flush and drain before the new sump and fresh semi synth oil. will run it like that until the turbo goes on, and switch to synth with another flush then.

yep, but good compression, smooth idle, no scouring of the cams and lifters, and no smoke from the exhaust. just needed a clean out :-) i've seen several worse than that too :-)

note the moly grease on the lobes. i also used it on the bearings. i dried and lightly oiled the bolt holes, and cleaned and torqued the bolts.

ok, so i had to leave it sitting turning the engine 180 degree each day until i had sat for 24 hours with the lifters under valve spring pressure. now that i did, when i started it there was a brief rattle, and its smooth as silk and revs happily to large numbers in neutral. i'll give it a drive later anarchy, and let you know how it feels compared to before. i'll be honest, so if it still sucks, thats what i'll tell you :-)

pulling both it and the stock ute engine tomorrow night, the ute engine is just sitting waiting to come out. the telstar one has quite a bit of work to unbolt all the accs etc...

cant wait to drop it in in the RIGHT direction :-)
