Allmazda- I havent really driven the car much all winter, and the few times i did drive it, it wasnt really all that cold out (in the 40's or 50's). It did seem like it took long to warm up, but I didnt think much of it since LX's tend to be this way. It did eventually end up at operating temp and stayed there. Last week it only came close to operating temp when idling for a few minutes, but it cooled right back down as I drove. Definitely a thermostat issue.

but heres a scan from the workshopmanual

as u can see it has an extra valve in it, something the SOHC engines dont have.

That's how the F2 thermostat (at least all of the ones I've seen) look like too. Maybe mine's just no good.
