Exhaust U-clamps were recommend for "attaching" supports to any of the pipe. Then there's no stress on the weld point- or pipe/tubing.

trouble is its ultra tight there and would need to be somewhat bodgy to use such a bracket/clamp. its a big pipe in a small place :-)

(i know you have less space, but still...) :-p

thanks again for pointing that out though.

do you see what i mean by a flat ring welded (potentially to a strip to reinforce the pipe) to the other side to allow some movement and still hold the weight of the exhaust.

fantastic work! I don't know how i managed to miss this thread until now.

It's a well-known survival tip that you should always carry around a length of ethernet or fibre cable when traveling in wilderness areas. If you get hopelessly lost, bury it. Then you can ask the backhoe operator for directions when he cuts through it.

Thanks man :-)

Probably because you weren't pissed off with my cheeky nature and snooping around looking at what I'd been up to ;-)

ROFL, what a joke, someone should tell him that I never read the rules on here either...

I actually went looking for his rules after that, and eventually found them...

I dare someone to put that smiley in that thread :-p

Also, 460 pics?? damn, I didn't add them up before, that is quite a lot!

I think the quoted post should be moved from where it is to this thread (mainly because the other thread is a 56k no no thread.)

Hoping to get 300hp out of the critter.
Should be pretty straight forward to achieve that. Basically if your setup isn't utterly crap you will get that at the crank without excessive stress.

What do you do in the way of cooling? electric or mechanical fan?
I have a pair of 12" electric fans, but they aren't wired up and it runs too cold as is with the HUGE radiator. It depends how hard you are going to thrash it as to how big a radiator you need. I'm going to hammer mine beyond recognition, so I went big.

Quote:
Whats the cheapest way to get the wiring sorted?
MS1/v2.2 + JAW + DIY = cheapest way to do what you want. On the other hand, MS2/v3.0 + innovate LC-1 + DIY will still be cheap and will be a big better in quite a few ways. For any MS solution, be prepared to put in the time to make it work. If you are lazy you will get issues. If you read up and are careful it can go smoothly.

The exhaust manifold, know of anyone that makes / sells aftermarket turbo ones?
I know of one guy who threatened to kill me a few times (no not vvvvvega) who does them, but I can't honestly say I recommend dealing with him. His product is probably good, but the human aspect is severely lacking...

Anyone with a MIG and some time and materials can do you a manifold. You can download the DXF files for the flange from a thread on here somewhere. Should be ~50 bucks to get one cut from 1/2 steel.

What fuel injectors/fuel rail would you suggest?
I can't say what will work easily, but rx7 550cc ones aren't too hard to fit (just need to be bored out a little) of course, I went over the top doing that. A few here have done it with drills and cordless drill and had luck, but I was told that the chances of leaking were high without a mirror finish.

Any links / info would be much appreciated.
At the top of this section is a thread called "stickies" where you will find almost everything there is to know about FE3 engines. Try the master index thread. It links most of the threads I remembered that are good, and all of the posts in my massive thread which I'm guessing you haven't seen yet. If you wanna have a gander at the full story (rather than the summary I posted on OS and other places) go to the first post in this thread and prepare to wait for many images to download ;-) Just don't be linking it on OS.

Regards,

Fred.

What are you using as a boost controller on that big turbo ?
I'm finding a big turbo is harder to control boost because of the slow reaction.

I call it a wastegate :-)

No boost control just yet. An 18psi spring and a hose.

What are you attempting to use? Perhaps try open loop with the MS ?

Ive been using my custom electronic boost controller, but it can't keep this one stable. Back to the drawing board.

Ya, a straight hose, i think thats what i will use for my dyno test, just a heavier spring set for 20 lbs.
