Freds FE3 into the ute swap COMMENTS THREAD.

Hello people, this is the place to pass comment on my project. If you are just going to be negative and a general idiot, don't bother :-) however if you think I have done something wrong, and you can justify why, and have some suggestions, feel free. This is known as constructive criticism and is a good positive thing :-) its a bit sad that i feel i have to say this here. I actually would like more posts rather than less, my threads seem to generally be quiet that way. get stuck in! :-)

Don't post in the other thread as it will be long anyway, and extra posts will only clutter it for later readers. Mods, please delete such posts. Thanks.

The thread itself :
http://www.mx6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=182355 (Freds FE3 into the ute swap DONT POST HERE.)

Cheers,

Fred.

1. clicking links isn't that bad - I just middle-click all of em and flip through the tabs. Even current IE users can do that.

2. If someone's on 56k, they shouldn't be looking at a thread with photos of a build, because they should know FE-DOHC users loooove pictures!

It's looking fantastic Fred, all the planning is really paying off it would seem. All looks so ordered, almost like it's done to a protocol or routine. Are you part German or something?

Thanks :-) nothing german except the name :-) maybe a bit of german splattered onto one of the great grandads in the war or something. i've been thinking about this for a long long time. there are a few things wrong.

the diff is 4.4, great for burnouts, not so great for boost. should rip through the gears, but will be screaming at high speed. i did that because i thought NA 2.2 itbs, then i changed my mind. and the diff is staying the same.

my choice of paint for the detailing isnt very durable. and some surface rust is showing through in places...

other than that, i'm happy so far, so long as i finish on time.

fred.

fab? fabrication? as in which bit? i cant think of what you mean right now. you should see the pic of the chassis when i had it doing open heart :-) about 1.4m of it missing from half way down to the bottom, all reconstructed to look original from 3mm plate and box. you could wave it around with one hand it was so flexy. i jacked it up at the back before fitting welding, and it shrunk back down pretty close to straight. i'll see how good my guess was when i get to an alignment shop :-)
