ok, heres a treat, i'll fill in the process pics some other time.

there ya go, it even looks ok :-) but its not :-( yet... but will be soon...

the coolant pipe is a little high too (kinda looks like a periscope lol), so i'll place the radiator, and whip that off, cut, reweld, and repaint, and we'll be away laughing :-)

last night i got out there, fitted the braces from block to box, re installed the rear cross member, hooked up heater lines, cleaned up the pile of tools in the drive, and chucked on a stock mani bottom half. fits and (rhd) clears the clutch and brake cyls. not sure what to do about inlet mani yet... we will see...

fred.

these pics not related to this post, but wouldnt fit above, so included here :

the night before last, i started on the manifold, and trimmed the turbo compressor housing to fit. propped up the turbo in its final resting place... and did some stuff inside...

picked up all the steel for the new flat deck tray last night. i think its going to be too light... maybe i'll provision two batteries back there for the ultimate in useful ballast :-)

goals for the weekend are tray finished except for battery and fuel system mounting, and manifold looking something like done.

having talked to the certifier about it, i will take it in as soon as its tuned enough to be driven "normally" about 3km.

ok, well the flat deck is 2/3 done, i have fitted my mondeo fans to my stock radiator. i'll have to look into a diesel or b2600 radiator... as this one will not cut it above 100kpa... modified the coolant line to line up with the radiator and not look like a periscope. thought up a design for the tail lights and such.

welded in a driveshaft restraint ring. filled the gearbox with oil. drove it out onto the road, turned it around, and drove it back in, all on the starter. the tight lsd was chunking like it was welded. and i managed
to hook 2nd gear!! :-)

theres a bit of room on my desk now. on night this week i'll be wiring up my ms and bench testing it for cop operation if i can suss out how to trigger it for that.

its great to see it looking like a truck again with the flat deck taking shape!!

i'm gunna make the battery and fuel supports damn strong. also the tail light assembly will be "jap car proof" all in aid of more weight to the back, and lower tail light bills when i brake test tail gaters.

no photos uploaded yet.

tomorrow night is finish the 36-1 adaptation. get it ready to fit to the pulley and then figure out where i wanna mount the sensor, and angle the wheel correctly relative to that.

of course, the weather would turn completely to custard wouldnt it...

i mean rain so heavy doing 30mph and seeing the next car was an issue

and a bit of wind to blow what wasnt leaking through into the carport and onto the bare steel.

so shes all wrapped up in tarps now. and i'll clear up my desk, fiddle with ms, and possibly post some pics...

grrrrr damn weather.

the flat part of the flat deck is all done, doing the tail lights, tie downs, battery/fuel holder etc now.

and reinforcing the two rear corners for impacts.

i cant help it if i like backing into stuff on purpose.

i have a pulley and 36-1 wheel all done and ready to figure out the correct angle for and mount up. i have some fittings for the bosch pump. nothing flash, but strong and leak free and effective.

who says you have to use that AN shiny blue ally stuff. why not zinc plated steel fittings. interestingly the bosch pump has a check valve that i'm keeping unlike everyone else, and a helicoil already installed in the pickup end. nice piece of gear.

right next post will either be with pics, or in several days.

fred.

i'll be able to find another track day before i leave to have a play in it on.

so apparently i was right to stop work because of the rain. up north 300 cars were stranded between two floods on a road (if you knew those roads, it must have been an interesting occurance for there to be 300 cars there at all...)

and various houses and roads were washed away entirely...

how was it in invers nick?

anyone else got one sitting around on a desk?

i'm pretty sure it didnt rattle before i dropped it.

now i have somewhere to put it and it probably wont go...

just thought of an idea though : hook it up to the surge tank to pump in the top and out the bottom, and see if its noisy, or puts out any junk, or any other weird symptoms.

i'm not holding out much hope though. and i'm not sure that even if it does work, i wanna risk it on my engine...

heres todays efforts : the fuel pump with its fittings scored today.

got bored with the ute and made a really really strong coffee table...

that holds a battery and (broken sob sob) fuel system rather well when placed upside down under a ute behind the diff.

got the 120 s/s nuts on, and holes for them drilled, and side bars, and a n/p light bracket, and a number plate bracket

very time consuming...

lots to do tonight.
