ok , I would like to try and make a sticky thread on which pistons are known to fit in the fe3. Because I know there's a few but I am not sure which ones actually fit.
So if everyone can chime in on the TRUE piston info that would be great.
also is there any pistons besides custom ones that will work with the f2t stroker crank?

in one of my stroker engines i have Nissan SR20DET pistons.
they had to be machined to fit the stock fe3 rod. other then that they fit right in and are "as good as" flush with the deck.
in my other stroked engine i use Honda H23a pistons. they also needed machining to fit the stock FE3 rod. the engine had to be shaved about 2.2mm.
also the piston had to be machined to fit a sirclip. the piston pin had to be made shorter to fit the piston with the machined sirclip space.

I was just about to buy a set of SR20DET ones for the stroker I am building....is the FE3 rod too thick for the SR20 piston, is that where the issue is ?

engine i mean block i had to have it shaved to get the pistons stick out about 0.7-0.8mm to get "quench" from about 0.7-0.8mm
the block with the honda pistons will be used NA and the one with SR20DET pistons with a turbo.

Well iv had my engine built by a engine builder i found out were he got the parts from SPS pistons Kit coated $1450 Argo rods $1600 with a F2T crank cast ion or R2 crank cast steel modified to fit oil pump . Might cost a bit but solid as. Those parts are all from Australia
That depends on how much material is to be removed.....I guess the Rod being Iron has probably got the greater tolerance for material removal...I always try to steer clear of modding pistons unless the work is minor.
There are quite a few people on the site who say theyre using SR20DET pistons in their stoker builds, i'd be interested to find out if the same technique has been used by everyone to fit them, and whether there have been any issues.

as u see its marginal what needs to be removed, less then a mm i think.
ill make some pics of the finished result.. i had them done over a year ago but never bothered to post.....
now I am a little confused, are you talking about machining the bore where the wrist pin slides into. or are you talking about machining the gap where the rod sits inside the piston?

for the Honda piston u need to make room for the rod, bore the block to 87 and have the piston and pin machined. (read earlier post)
for the Nissan piston u need to make room for the stock FE3 rod.
as its been 2 years ago since i started to work on my stroker engine ive been mixxing up info.
for that i want to apologize as i dont want any wrong info to get to u guys.
i think what he meant was "does this piston only fit if you stroke the engine (with teh 2.2 crank), as i am not doing that, only pistons and bearings, and i would like to know if i can use these"
answer is, this thread is supposed to provide a solution for both cases.
cam22t, so any stock style dsm pistons will directly fit? I think it needs to be 40 over to match a stock fe3 bore. If the pistons you used were in a dsm, what compression would they be?
Looking at the info in the PDF link. They would have been 8.3-1CR.
So a difference in the fe of about .7 of a point.
See if Roth251 posts... From memory, he has the newer correct Wiseco pistons for the FE.
You are correct about the bore dia. The 4G63 is 85mm standard, so 40thou is our engine.
I had to open up my bore one more size, as it was tapered. So i am at 60thou over for the 4G63 and 20thou over for the FE.
so say if you used a 40 over dsm piston that made 9-1 compression, It would be a direct fit in an fe3 and make about 8.3-1 compression?
