they are better. The valvetrain in FE3 heads sucks bigass stock. Can't even rev to stock revlimit on most heads (7300rpm), even that it's a dual-spring design

4g63 heads are better with a much ligher valvetrain and it's no problem to rev 8500-9000 with stock single springs in my evo1 head
I use a pair of 280 cams with somewhere aroung 11mm lift. No problems with stock HLA's and rocker arms.

How much would you say a stock FE3 head can take without porting it?

I like the FE3 much and a FE3 bottom end with 4g63 head would be nice

6 bolt 4g63 are before '92 and 7 bolts are '92 and after I believe.

Still I would rather take and FE DOHC over a 4g63.

true, your entitled to your own opinion, but it really gets under my skin when people assume just because someone mentions 4g63 people say crankwalk. its gotton old already and you dont hear of it much anymore, it was only a couple years of bad apples and thats why anyone whos serious with their dsm has a built 6bolt, not 7

That couldn't be much further from the truth. The company has had endless faults with their vehicles and sooooo many recalls. It's common for ford and GM to recall stuff, not common for toyota to do it. Mitsi is well known world wide for producing substandard products. This is not limited to the 4g63. The one that made it famous was the ABS systems on the gaydm galants that prevented the brake pedal from being pressed, that caused a number of crashes in NZ, and no doubt more in japan. The media thought the manager of the company was going to kill himself (jap culture to do so when you have been shamed) because it was uncovered that they knew about the fault and didn't do the recall, further investigations revealed lots of similar situations. Moral of the story, NEVER buy a mitsi. EVER. Period. The evo is the exception in a good way if anything...

It seems like whenever I see Mazda4ever posting anymore, its defending his beloved DSM shetboxes.

Go hang out at dsmtuners and talk about how great your engines are.

I parted it out anyways because I ran out of the cash to finish it, I just think its retarded to refer to crankwalk everytime someone mentions the 4g63. Ill stand up the mazda as much as I would for any car.. its just downright stupid to shame every year and version of a car because of its engine when only a few years had the issue. all other mitsu bull[shizzle] aside. you guys all are mazda nut swingers anyways. I dont give a [shizzle] what your opinions are and I know you dont give a [shizzle] what mine are.

I'm no mazda nut swinger. I'm an anti nut swinger!

I hate anyone that says XYZ brand is the bestest.

I used to think BMW dudes were the worst, but each breed is just as bad as the next.

Mazda - you lot
Honda - most of hmt
Toyota
BMW
etc
you name it
they will tell you it kicks arse

What I am is anti mitsi, anti subaru, anti euro, anti yank.

All of mazda, toyota, nissan, honda have good cars and engines. Some mitsi stuff is OK, but nothing is truly great.

Fred.

I think I've seen enough Mitsu/Mazda flaming for one day, next time the points come out.

I also hope everyone realizes that a lot of the electronics in our old mazda's were made my mitsubishi.
