UPDATE: 8/16/08.. mostly just more pics for the night
it seems my f2t wasn't as old as i though it was. the vin number i found on the back of the block doesn't match mine and instead goes to a 1990 626gt hatch
also included is some pics of the final tear down of the f2t.
enough of the old f2t, now on to the new fe3 (plus the accessories)
stock mazda oil filter
gt oil cooler on an fe3
everything bolted on
dirty engine bay awaiting cleaning an a new motor
old worn out tranny (reverse and 5th are screwed.)
and last but not least, the pics of my all day work area. thanks ghetto engine hoist! (which is now broken.)
thanks to my friend scruffy for staying up till 5am to help me with this install
(thats him, not me)
on a related side note, i pulled the passenger side cv joint apart on accident trying to get it back out of the tranny. now i have to get a metal tie to hold the boot on and pack some more grease back in
update: installed all coolant and fuel hoses, except the heater core ones. reinstalled the broken coolant sensors to fill the holes since i couldn't find 16 and 18mm plugs/bolts that weren't expensive. do i really need pics of this minor update?
and now for some useless repair and weight reduction
stock broken gt seat on left, 626 dx bottom on right i got for $9.99
disassembly
filled hole
poor old broken track
in the end it was a 10lbs loss (55lbs stock, 45lbs after track swap) and it ended up sitting a little lower in the car too. works just find too, i just need to relube the tracks.
