88 mx6 heater problem

hey guy im shane,
ive just joined up.

i have recently bought a 88 mazda mx6 2door coupe manual 2.0 doch
i am having trouble with the heater as in it only blows cold air out not hot air.
What are the possible probs why this would occur as it is winter here in n.z
and i need it working asap,

fuse or actual heater unit itself faulty

any help appreciated

Your in the wrong section.......

however, check that the heater core has not been bypassed, as the core tanks are notorious for splitting and leaking coolant.....

most people bypass the core so as to avoid the cost and or time and effort to change the core

so the only way to get hot air is to replace the core it self, were about is it situated in the dash and is it really that difficult replace,does it involve taking the dash out

It's not difficult per se, but does take quite a bit of effort. You do have to take the dash out, here's a shot of the core:



The white thingie in top center. If the core is not bypassed, you could try and flush it, if it's clogged it should clean out.
