New offer:

Since I've only gotten one show of interest (where are all the people that keep saying they want a 5-door?), I'll offer to pull the tranny, steering rack and pump out of the parts car so you don't have to worry about hauling out two cars. AND, if you need to drive this thing more than 40 miles worth of shifts and don't want to pull over to re-bleed the clutch line, I'll fix the clutch line leak (replace the flex hose and rebuild the MC with the parts I already have) so you could drive it with all the parts in the back (gotta love the 5-door's space) to wherever. I drove it for a while with out being able to go up hills in 5th by just dropping it to 4th before the hill... and still got around 30mpg highway.

I hope someone wants it because I don't want to have to send it to the junkyard

I might be interested if the car will be sold in 100% drivable shape... So you're saying you'll put in the parts car's tranny (among other clutch things) to make it mechanically sound, correct?

I would fix the clutch line issue, but not swap in the other tranny. As it sits now it is completely driveable, and I've taken it out and driven it around recently to wake it up a little bit. All the gears go in fine, but 5th will pop out under load. You can cruise on flat ground in 5th easily, but no hills or much acceleration.

I don't have the bearings, seals, and a new clutch/flywheel to replace while the tranny is off, which are all "one of those things" that should be done while you can. The original clutch still holds fine, and a potential buyer may want to leave it in there, or put in a new oem one, or stage 2, etc.

I would take the tranny and steering components out of the parts car and put them in the back of the 626 for transport. With the clutch line sealed up and not taking in air, I would trust it to make it to NY.

Have you ever thought it may be the slave cylinder that's bad? Perhaps it is the MC or the clutch line but I doubt it if they are only a year old. I would love to get that 626 but I'm looking at another 2nd gen right now. I'll let you know what happens because you know I would love me a 5-door.

97 C8 MX6 LS-S : Supercharged StreetThisMx6's motor, HP's and Eibach's, AWR suspension components, FD's and J-specs, etc... Yeah it's nice

Yeah, the slave cylinder is the same age as the MC and is bone dry around the piston. In about a year's time the fluid went from clear to black which makes me think the original flex line is deteriorating, and when I last bled the line I only got air out right at the MC, nothing from the slave.

The slave cylinder I replaced was dry around the piston too and it was letting in massive amounts of air... but I couldn't bleed it at all because of it. This time I can actually bleed the system. I dunno. Haha, honestly I didn't want to be the one looking into it.

Ok I get it now! I wouldn't have a problem putting the tranny in myself.

As far as the motor, it has had the head replaced? Anything else fresh on it? Leaks?

Also, how does the zombie chip affect the car? (No boost cut/more power?)

Just routine maintenance... 3 years ago when I bought it I did the timing belt, pcv, fuel filter, all other maintenance stuff... plugs and wires aren't too old on it, front and rear tranny mounts are new... intercooler hoses are flexible, TB boot is fairly new... I have new injector seals, rear upper shock mounts (I swapped over the shocks from the parts car so I don't really need those anymore), and coolant temp sensor sitting in the back.

Last time I compression tested it (cold) the variation between the highest and lowest was 15psi I think. It was over a year ago and I don't remember the exact numbers.

The power steering line leaks, which is part of the whole power steering issue... the belt for the pump is off and I've just been wrestling it around. It used to have a coolant leak but I'm pretty sure that stopped when I put OEM clamps back on the hoses... I have to top off the oil every once in a while (mobile 1 since I've owned it)... Haven't checked the tranny fluid since I last filled it after throwing in the new 5th gear shift arm... brake and clutch lines don't leak... water leaks in through the hatch and or the sunroof and or the rear tails and fills up the spare tire area. I just left a drain plug open in the bottom and forgot about it.

The zombie chip claims to remap fuel and timing curves and eliminates fuel cut. I dyno'd it before the new head and it did this:

Blue is completely stock, Red is with just the chip, and Green is the chip and a boost controller set to 15psi. Stock numbers were about 143whp/190wtq and at 15psi it is 174whp/243wtq.
The engine feels exactly the same after the new head, so my but dyno claims the same numbers now

The reason the head was replaced was that the original one fired a spark plug out of cylinder #3 and stripped the threads. Rather than helicoil it, I just replaced it with a used one out of a probe gt with about 90k miles on it.

Only engine performance mods are chip, MBC, and a K&N drop in (after the dyno)

Tires still have good tread. They're fuzion zri 205/55.

Suspension has an 18mm probe rear sway bar and poly bushings and end links all around... and I have a 24mm probe front bar sitting in my garage. RSTB out of the mx6 as well.

Haha, sorry if I said some of that before... I don't remember everything I wrote in the first post.

Also, feel free to check out mazdaturbo's photos and albums on webshots for more pictures and descriptions of a bunch of things I did to it.

And of course, feel free to ask some more questions.
