First car, First project!

The story of my 1990 Mazda MX6 N/A

Just two months ago I got my first job and shortly after I got my license, but at that time I hadn't saved up any money for a car. My dreams were high, hoping for a supra or something real sporty. I rode the bus home and when I walked through the door my mom told me my brother had something to tell me. I walked into the bedroom and he said his friend was selling a car for 500.00 bucks. I guess this kid was desperate to get rid of it, he came over, showed it to me, and took me and my mom for a test drive. A couple days later my mom and I bought it. Since then I have planned out quite a few things that I want to do to it. The CV Boot went out and i'll be replacing that this weekend. It needs a paintjob and rims, but it's my baby... I love her!

She has a few bumps and bruises but she runs strong and purrs deep. The hood was spray painted black to cover up swastikas painted on it from some damn vandals. The roof is sun-burnt and the door seal is ripped because it was broken into. My dad works at Kimball's Autobody, he paints cars and works auto body. Hopefully some time this summer we are going to slap some paint on her and put some white rims on there.

Since May 24, 2007 I have put these parts into/on her:
460w amp
10" sony explod subwoofer
2 sony explod speakers
White off brand shift knob
Black shift boot
Whistler Pro 58 Radar Detector /w power switch
4" Fireball Muffler
Replaced passenger side CV boot
Replaced tires w/ semi-low profile

4" Fireball Muffler (it raining...):

Makeshift welding:

It looks kind of weak but its on there real good, also the silencer is still in there and it purrs pretty deep. Ill video it later.

July 30 edit:
Many more pictures... engine, sound system, full car shots, radar detector switch

The switch for the radar detector, right next to my foot (note the ductape holding it up )

Dirty little engine.... when I bought it the kid had forgotten to put the oilcap back on after he put oil in it >_<

MAZDA

10" #1 - guess the name!

10" stretchdaddy 600W

Duel Channel AMP

Random shots:

My future plan:
White/Red theme
White rims
Red break pads
White windshield wipers
Red body (custom paint job by my dad)
Tinted windows (all around)
possible engine swap?

Good platform to start with, I don't recommend white wheels though.

What color are you looking to paint it? Same color or something different?

hmmm, i'm kinda sentimental about a 1stgen maroon on maroon. My buddy had one and was the very person who introduced me into the mx6 world. He wanted to sell me his for $750 with 245k miles but the engine was really strong. But i wanted a second gen. He died a month after i got my 6. Damn i wish i would have bought his car. I like it. Fix her up buddy.

In the Works: KLDE with T3 Turbonetics turbo/ .60trim, 370cc injectors, MSD, AFPR, Megasquirt PnP, intercooled with 2" mandrel piping, performance cams, CenterforceStage 3 clutch, fidanza 9lb flywheel, Greddy SP1 Catback exhaust, SEIBON Carbon fiber hood, RX7 FD Rims, Hubert the Parrotlesss ASPEC Retro fitted HID's, and 05 SI Front seats.
Daily Driver: 4dr 07 SI...Stock for now.

If it were me, I'd keep the car the stock color unless the engine bay and door jams all get the color change. Since your car is the DX, maybe look for a LX or GT in the junkyard and get the power windows and try to swap in a grey interior. I would even swap in the regular seatbelts in place of those crappy auto ones.

Currently have two 1988 MX-6 GT 5 speeds, both white, one stock, one not. Also have a big ass Dodge Ram 3500 4x4 Diesel for fun.
