i always drive by the airstrip, and always wanted to drive on it, so i went into the office and asked for the guy and told him my name, where i work, and what i wanted to do and why i wanted to do it. He originally said no, and I told him that i had recently done some mods to my car and didn't want to go fast on streets because it was dangerous, and that his property would be perfect for a drag strip. He said that he had wanted to open up a drag strip since that's where the money was, and we talked about the dangers of street racing and why drag strips were so much better, then the high cost of insurance for drag strips. After this he agreed and said that i could do one run down and one run back, and if i got caught by the cops he would say that he didn't see me go on but he wouldn't press charges

The prospect of outsized profits leads people to exaggerate their own capabilities. In their minds. They pretend to themselves that they are in control of events where perhaps they are not. And it is always one's stance upon uncertain ground that invites the attention of one's enemies. or discourages it.

[shizzle] man, insurance can't be that big of a deal at a drag strip, what do you think they have liability releases for. So they can't be held accountable.

that would be badass to have the air strip converted to a dragstrip that way you could say you were a part of it

ragin, is that how it works? i dunno, i've never been to a dragstrip, but i assumed that spectators could just buy a ticket and show up, no waiver needed

Yeah, thats how it works for all drivers. You have to sign a waiver before you are allowed into staging.

well i meant for spectators, i figure drivers would have to sign waivers, but spectators can get hit by flying parts (car or body) or get burned. Do they need to sign waivers too?

No they don't, but there really isn't that much danger to the crowd. Most tracks have concrete barricades with fences along the track to prevent debree from hitting the crowd.

Even so, why not just make the spectators sign waivers too.

You also have to remember that most of the fans are near the starting line where there is little to no speed, so if there is a mechanical failure, the car doesn't leave the track. The disastrous incidents happen about half way down the track and beyond. So if you keep spectators away from that area, you risk no real harm.

Every track I've been to you had to sign a waiver to spectate. Just makes sense.
