Loss in 1gen community (no 56K)

April 19 at about 10.30 a.m. I was involved in an accident with a chevy cobalt. It was lightly raining out. I was going down the road and the light up ahead turned yellow but I was really close so I was just going to go straight through like normal. The cobalt in front of me slams on the breaks and stops on a dime and I have absolutely not time to react and rear ended her. She had maybe a bit of a dent, and some paint missing. My problems were a bit heavier.

Insurance is most likely going to total it. I'll probably buy it back and then possibly buy another 6 with the money (hopefully a GT), and use this one as a parts car. That, or go to a junk yard and get a bumper, hood, front brace, etc etc.

What would you do? I don't think you can buy another car of equal or better quality/fun with the amount of money I'll get.

right off 24 by the ramps to i-69. Right infront of the Scotts right over there.

Ah, the worst part is that the girl I hit was smiling the whole time and was joking about how this happened to her just a couple weeks earlier. No biggy for her though right, 100% my fault?

If I get another 6, I'll def give you a PM or something If you wanna help swapping some stuff around.

it'll be your fault. usually a rear ending the person behind is at fault. depends on the cirumstances. if she admits on the stopping on a dime situation then it'll change a bit, but i wouldnt count on it. and i say fix it. ive done it...

Oh I know that she won't admit. We're taking it to an Auto Collision place tomorrow to asses the damage to see if it is totaled or not. They won't be doing the work though, not on my baby. I'll probably get some money and do it all on my own. I've been able to find all the body pieces I need so far besides the hood. Anyone have any ideas? Junkyard best bet probably right.

Hey colin, you know of any good junkyards in the area? I've never hit one up around here.

I hate it when people do that, stopping when they clearly have enough time to go through the yellow, and ur right behind. They're now becoming a danger to other drivers around them. Retarded

I've been looking around online for 6's just about anywhere in the midwest and unfortunately, haven't been able to find any GTs, only a couple red LXs. One even claims to have a leather interior? haha right.. LX with a LE interior.

I might be picking up that 1st one.

Eh, $1,800 plus the cost of importing it all over and everything else is a bit out of my price range. Thanks for the link though.

I'm expecting to get maybe a grand if they total it (too optimistic?), and then I'm willing to dish out maybe $400 - $600 for a new car. Not too concerned about it being a GT since it'll affect my insurance rates haha.
