So, ever buy a car...and 8 months later hate the seller?

Here is why... Everything looked top notch when i bought it, minimal rust on fender and on hood (practically same size as it is now)

But the rockers and quarter panels?? more importantly the structeral pinchweld??

yummy hole.. gets WAY worse

excuse me laying down, sun was out, only way i could see what the camera saw... notice the outter rocker is detached from the pinch weld and just hanging down?

Rear driver's side wheel well... god knows how far this goes, more evidence of pinch weld condition

This is from under the car looking beind the pinch weld, one spot of rust being the pinchweld, the other being the outter rocker

coindtion of the pinch weld front driver's side, by the fender

Passenger side, not hanging off, but you can see the bubbles and rust

yummy...

Oh, what's this?? that sucks....where did it come from?

from this - the other rear wheel well... sexyness

Well dave two things...

1. I've never seen rust so bad on a six, sorry
2. Weight reduction!

I just can't believe the paint, especially green, is good with such bad rust.

Did you look under the car when you bought it? I'm not being smart just trying to clarify if the seller had all that covered up or something. Thats the worst rust on an mx6 I've seen

Old V8s are like getting with your hot girlfriend's mom. Sure she's older but she's still hot as hell and she'll do things to you that your girlfriend doesn't know how.

meaning the paint is in good condition considering the rust on the car??
yea, not bad at all really..

i have enough paint to paint this car all over no problem. I just dont know if i should fix it, keep it...or fix it, sell it... and if i sell is it worth to fix

the motor runs strong, the car is actually quick, much more fun to hit the gas on this one compared to the old one. But the motor burns oil... lol see my post in the lounge about how my time has been going for the past while. I haven't been posting on here often because i seldom have ambition to say anything at all.

Still gonna love the tires... lol gonna race it in june to compare it vs my old bumble bee... hopefully it doesn't blow up or fall apart... after that trip, im either hacking it and selling it, or legitimatly going to try and fix it and either keep or sell it.

yes, it was well covered up. I did look underneath. He said he had the rocker panels repaired. That's not repaired, that's hacked, corner cutting, fibreglass/bondo/monofoam and rock guard. Any back yard hobo can do that. It's hard to believe body shops actually put out this type of work. It really gives my industry a bad name.

These are the risks you take when you buy 10+ year old used cars, unfortunately...

Next time you buy a used/ old (prone to be rusty) car, always bring a screwdriver to test the metal.

Always poke floors, rockers, ... and that will determine if bondo over or real metal is beneath.
