Angry 1 reason you should never rush while doing repairs

I did the timing belt on the millenia4 monthsd ago and today arond 5:30 after pulling out my driveway I am hearing noises under the hood some rattling then something whipping so I check the belts and see this:

then after pulling off the pulleys and belts I find this:

turns out one of the engine mount bolts came out and finally fell into the t-belt

no I've been running without the covers almost a year now and that bolt had to have just popped out around 5 since I have been driving half an hour earlier with no problems

but had you had that cover on you would have just lost a bolt instead

note: im not knocking the fact you don't have the cover on, but just saying thats why i keep mine on.

I would just take the bolt out and keep running it. My friend ran with half a timing belts for ages, they are very strong.

It's the one holding the mount on the block "I think", I believe that goes underneath the cover, so It'll still falls in there even with a timing belt cover on. Ouch, torque down your bolts properly next time. Get a new belt, it's like $30 and a 15 mins job since your cover is already off.

are you implying that the removal of the timing belt cover is the hardest part of the job?

The prospect of outsized profits leads people to exaggerate their own capabilities. In their minds. They pretend to themselves that they are in control of events where perhaps they are not. And it is always one's stance upon uncertain ground that invites the attention of one's enemies. or discourages it.

Removing the T-belt cover is the 2nd hardest part of the job.
Putting it back on is the 1st hardest part.
Speaking of which, does anyone have any good methods of removing and replacing the T-belt cover without twisting and pulling forever?

IMHO yes, only when the motor is in the car. Otherwise timing belt job is a walk in the park.

^ How can putting it back on be the hardest?
