i think you will regret it at some point. I think you should have gotten it built with the turbo kit before you tore all of this [shizzle] out.
I understand that your doing this because its "free" and a "performance enhancement", but a turbo kit would have produced WAY more power (obviously) than this, and i think you would have been content with what you had with a full interior... and a quiet ride.
oh well, too late now
94 Boosted Mx6. 12.86 @ 116 on an FMU... Wait till next year, bitches.
Built buy Me, ebay and zip ties.
200 pounds is nothing for a street car, no offence. When I put 200 pounds into my car I notice a difference but its not big. Unless your going into professional motorsports there is no reason for weight reductions especially in the interior. I would personally start with the body, making every single part of that lighter and stiffer and more aerodynamic.
more aerodynamic eh? how would you acheive that and how would that be better than a car that weighs 200lbs less? Even if he gets a 270 lb reduction - thats 10% of the original weight...huge difference.
i think you'd think yourself pretty stupid if you took a ride i my mx which weighs in around 2100lbs - 500lbs of stuff is a huge difference.

i do know what you mean colin - i kept the whole front/dash/doors intact but everything else is gone. Heck - i don't mind it loud at all...lol
edit and for the record
stock hood 48 lbs - cf 18
stock trunk w spoiler 33 lbs - cf 9
lost more than 50 lbs...when you're cutting down like i am...50 plus pounds is a LOT
I already have 3 other cars. So this would be a fun project for me. I'd like my steering wheel towards the center, and the seat in the center, But that would be too much modification

It's all good Colin. I am really doing it because I wanted to change something about my car and I am not touching the exterior. I like the race prepped look. If I want to deaden the sound down a bit I do have a black carpet I could throw in there.
I want my car to be like my sexual encounters. Fast, loud, and so rough it makes my nuts hurt.

I want to see you drunk in person sometime. If I have another gathering this summer you have to come.

Pictures of your car please.
I think 50 pounds is a lot too. I would definitely buy a carbon hood and trunk if someone was selling them for cheap. Otherwise I am not spending that much cash.

I don't even know where to start... How about I hope that is a track only vehicle, and if it is how is it legal?
The welds look worse then the Sophmore welding class in high school. The fact he welded into the SIDE of the strut tower scares me. I hope he never has to rely on that roll cage, it will most likely kill him in a rollover.
PLEASE tell me thats not the final product. There is a gaping hole in the floor, this also makes the rigidity of the vehicle worse. This 6 looks ready for a ride to the junkyard.
That's technically the wheel well. The strut tower starts after the quarter window ends. It's still a little weird though. His car is a dedicated track car and he lives overseas. I am not sure what rules they have there.

I've seen videos of that car being beat on HARD and it hasn't broken. He spun 180's on the track at high speeds. I agree that the welds are ugly but maybe there are other things going on there that you can't see in that picture.
