You tell me why this isn't a sticky.. I wrote this up for everybodies benefit.. and PM'ed Goat about making this a sticky numerous times.. and STILL its not a sticky.. whats up with that? Its helped out SO many people..

Here is the best stuff on the market... its that actual "Prime" goop that I used in the tutorial...
http://www.nvo.com/prodcarcare/pages...catuid%3D10139

It comes in a huge 3.8 liter jug... so its good for at least 15 applications for either your car or your friends and families...

please remember that this cleaning and application process should be done (ideally) at least every season.. where as 4 months (or ever more) per year are the best... once or twice a year is not going to prevent any cracks.. since thats AMPLE time for your seats to dry out in-between applications.

Basically.. if you really want your cars seats to stay mint.. do this once a month.. even then you'd still be amazed at how dirty your drivers seat will absorb.. its quite nasty really.

Panther.. to answer your question.. I've never dealt with "hard spots" on leather seats per se.. but since your from Hawaii.. I'm guessing that was from the heat of the sun one day.

One night .. when the car will be sitting for a day or so.. or at least 12 hours.. spread a (cookie sized) gob of that prime stuff on your seats hard spots.. over the night it will absorb mostly into the seat.. that should soften them up.. at that point do the whole clean and application process again then that should clear it up.. if not PM me.. and I'll ask this re-nowned detailer that I used to learn from back in the day when I used to detail.. of what he'd do.. it shouldn't be too hard.

If you dont want to buy that "prime" goop.. then buy some kind of creme with "lanolin oil" in it.. since thats the key right there.. its the lanolin oil that does the trick

Oh yeah.. either this

http://www.nvo.com/prodcarcare/pages...catuid%3D10043

or this

http://www.nvo.com/prodcarcare/pages...catuid%3D10043

are the two best waxes I've ever used.. they are a ONE STEP process (just wash your car really well and wax away with a good applicator pad such as this

http://www.nvo.com/prodcarcare/pages...catuid%3D10030

and your good to go.. just wipe on and wipe off with a CLEAN terry cloth (or beach towel if you dont have one)

when applying the wax.. leave the car a little bit wet every here and there.. whereas dont dry off the car completely.. if the app. pad is wet... the wax will go on way smoother...

and then WAIT for the wax to COMPLETELY dry before you wipe it off.. then it'll of settled into the pores of the paint.. besides to wipe off wet wax is a distastor... wait until it dries which will typically take 20 minutes or so.. best to wax the car in the sun.

hope this helps..

BTW.. lots more posts to come about car care.

The dishwashing detergent / water mix is good for prep cleaning right?

I'd avoid the dishwashing liquid soap all together.. its really not designed for this at all.. you can if you want.. but Mr. Clean or Pine sol is way better.. but sure it would work if you dont have the latter.

Make sure its mild cleaner.. (about as strong as you'd normally use on your hands) you want the actual scrubbing to get the dirt out of the pores.. not the chemicals... too strong chemicals will actually wipe the dye right out of the seats.

Consider it done.

Dishwashing soap is only designed for dishes.. and food.. nothing else.. you can use for otherthings (such as this and cleaning floors or whatever else) but it wasn't designed for it.. however Pine Sol and Mr. Clean were designed for general cleaning for a really wide variety of stuff: such as this and everything else. It'll just do a better job.. and it won't foam up when you scrub it.. which helps!

Also any cleaner from wally's world will work too.. like "Spray nine" or whatever.. if you have any questions.. just PM me..

AVOID BATHROOM CLEANERS!!!!!!!!

I honestly think it's from water. During the day the car is parked under a carport. I work at night. This happened like a day after I left the sunroof open and had to wipe the inch of water from the seat. I'm trying to find something that is good for one or two applications because I'll be moving after that. I doubt the movers here will ship it.

Come on mods. What do we have to do to get Graham_A_M's post a sticky?

It should be a thread in 2G Projects, not a sticky.

Wikipedia is a Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game (MMORPG) in which participants play editors of a hypothetical online encyclopedia, where they try to insert misinformation that they are randomly assigned when they create their accounts, while preventing contrary information from being entered by others. Players with similar misinformation to promote will generally form "guilds" in order to aid each other.

Why? It's not 2G specific at all... it applies to all leather seats (or at least that's how I see it)

I have sent two e-mails requesting it with no response. Today I finally called and it went direct to voicemail. I left a voicemail (about 3 hours ago) and no call back yet.

Finally got the gallon (of course, way past late now considering MM8 is over with) but I'm looking forward to doing this and seeing how it goes. I'll try to remember to take some before & after pictures to contribute to the thread.
