i was looking at the MX3 that i want to buy and it looks like the v6 in the car has a KLZE in... the difference being the intake for the smaller engine bay.
limme know if im right or wrong... the v6 MX3 is what i want to get hold of so im hoping this car is a definate buy for me.
That is not a ZE !!! That is just the stock 1.8 K8. You can tell by the curvy part of the intake manifold by the timiong belt cover. Even if it was a ZE, why the hell would someone put the K8 manifold back on it. The K8 manifold is more restrictive than the DE. If it was a ZE, it would have the curved neck manifold that came off the Eunos 800. It looks just like a millenia intake manifold. I hope that helps. If you are looking to buy a mx3 ZE, go to mx-3.com . They usually have a couple cars for sale.
"The V6 engine was impressive for the time, belonging to the Mazda K-series, which were used in a range of Mazda vehicles. These engines were designed to be smooth, very long lasting, and hold a high torque across the RPM range. These engines used a variable length intake manifold (VLIM), in order to provide optimal torque using intake resonance. Mazda called their system on the MX-3 the "Variable Resonance Induction System" (VRIS). This engine had a 7000 rpm redline, and a 7800 rpm fuel cutoff. It is rumored that Porsche designers helped to create the K series engine."
its a K-series engine...
when following the k-series i read more. "The 1.8 L (1845 cc) K8 is among the smallest productionV6 engines ever; and also the first K-series engine to be used in a Mazda car (in the Mazda MX-3). It was a DOHC 4-valve design with VRIS and a 75 mm bore and 69.6 mm stroke. It produced 130 hp in US trim (sometimes referred to as "K8-DE"), and 135 hp in Japanese trim (the "K8-ZE") on introduction in 1991 and 144 hp (108 kW) and 115 ft.lbs (157 Nm) at its best.
Applications:
its the K8 1.8L engine... it can be swapped witht eh KL engines ^_^ which i may do in the future... but for now the 1.8L will be fine.
i might have a 144hp cus in 91 they added that... it could be the K8-ZE they're talking about.... cus the car im getting is 92.

well for one im not a car person and i had not idea the only difference i saw was the intake...
i found the info on Wiki...
looked at mx-3.com they are a lil confusing at first but dont look bad... im used to mx6.com though... i dont think ill leave hear... cus ill eventually swap my engine for a KL-ZE and i find better info/help from the guys here where the engine is more common then the K8-DE/ZE on mx-3.com... ill still join and look there but their site also hurts my eyes... with that bright red...
I have a friend, hppwdn, with a ZE-T MX-3, which is in the process of having a fully built DE swapped into it, said engine is capable of 500+ WHP. Needless to say, it'll be fast.
Nice...
i just found that i like the smaller MX-3 over the MX-6.... and from what i found a KL swap would be pretty easy its swapping engines and a lil bit of mounting the ECU would run either one.
None of them have one from factory. It is an easy swap though.
well he didnt say that it was swap. which he could have insinuated due to thats how he seen it and either forgot that the guy/girl had them swapped or they didnt know it.
apparently the K8 is the first K-series engine. the difference is displacement and intake. but yeah a KL swapp is just engine swap the ECU can run the KL and i imagine they kept the Tranny bolt config but may not so a tranny swap may be needed, but i doubt that. and then theres are the motor mounts in the same location... if its as easy as pull the engines and stick the KL in and bolt it up and wire it up. thats sweet. cus eventually i want to get a MX3 and then when i can get the KL ill ship one and rebuilt it and swap them.
but for right now i have no money to be able to get a MX3 and so i just gotta hope that i can get one when i can afford it. -.- damned credit...
