Best way is piano wire. Wrap it around 2 wooden dowels, and use a sawing action to cut the adhesive on the windsheild (Of course you'll need a screwdriver or knife to puncture the 1st needed hole for the string to fit thru)

or ive seen an electric carving knife used (Like they use at thansgiving)

No, the best way is to pay a company to come to your house while you sit inside and watch television. They'll come to your house with all the equipment and be done in less than 1/2 hour. Afterwards they'll knock on your door and you'll sign for a receipt because you paid online beforehand. Replacing a windshield isn't nearly as expensive as you think, but paying not to have the aggravation is well worth it.

Do you have an electronic caulking gun that measures and make a perfect bead? Didn't think so.

My windshield was $135 even tax included.

^^personally, after doing 5-6 windows now myself, Im probably going to start doing it that way. (But around here its ~$200 to get a new windsheld installed. A lot more expensive than the $60 I can do it myself for)

X 2 ... not worth all the hassle and the chance of cracking the windshield after spending hrs trying to take it out.

pay to have it done with the warranty

Well if you go to "around here" then you deserve to get ripped off. Of course you're going to get ripped off by going to a local place. I said pay online because that is what you do. Companies like safelite are national and will come to your house no matter where you live. There is no excuse for trying to do it yourself just to save a few dollars, except for being cheap. Companies will also guarantee that the windshield won't come off and behead you on the highway, your drunk friends that assist for a cheeseburger and a Coors Light will not.

SafeLite's website gave me a quote for $235 to replace the front window. It must be cheaper in your area to get glass replaced...

$150 is more than a few dollars. I can get the old window out and a new one in in under 2 hours, so its not too bad to do it myself.
