Getting Dents and Scratches out?!

I'm just wondering what are my options.

yesterday we had a probly 90 km windstorm and a metal pole flew into the side of my mx6 (parked for winter) and left a pretty big dent and scratches everywhere as well as the paint from the pole...

What are my options? My stepdad said its probly under 300$ to fix so no point of going through insurance...

Any cheap ways?

Ill post pics later when im home.

Take it to body shops, see if there are any "mobile dent repair" businesses in your area (we have one called Dent Dr.).

Do what you would normally do if you had a dent or ding.

From your description it sounds like one hell of a dent. If it is too big, the paintless dent removal wont be an option and you will need to get it pulled out and resprayed.

Pictures might help. To get paint off the car, you can often use solvents or very light wet sanding and then polish. For scratches, it depends on the severity of the scratch and how much material you have to move into its spot.

You best bet is to have a body shop look at it or a paintless dent specialist just like others have suggested.

okay i was sort of over-reacting haha

The dent itself isnt really bad, i can live with it (its more of a crease).

There is alot fo scratches tho, everyone said to just get someone to buff it out.

I dont really know anything about fixing this kinda stuff.

i tried taking pics but they dont turn out at all =(

Yer taking pics of dents/scracthes with an average camera is hard. The light has to be just right.

If the scratches still show the colour of the paint underneath, it will buff out. If there is white(and bare metal obviously), respray. Plus the dent/crease, I would say you are up for a couple of hundred bucks at the panel beater getting it pulled out and the whole panel resprayed. Which panel is it?

its the drivers side behind the door right under the quarter panel glass.

im lucky it didnt go through the glass :O

There is white scratches, but im unsure if its the paint or metal showing. Because the pole that hit it was powder coated in white and it rubbed all onto the car.

The worst spot imaginable on a mx6. I have an awesome dent on mine there as well, but no scratches. I got quoted $800 by a panel beater to fix it. I havent seen paintless dent removal yet though. Try to give the car a really nice wash to see if you can get the white paint(if it is white paint) off, but I have the feeling you are [shizzle] out of luck.

That's a bit on the high side. I know a body shop in Victoria that would take out the dent and re-spray the whole rear quarter panel for $300-400. That's what they did with mine.

Different country, different dollar (although canadian vs aussie atm is pretty close) and different market.

Though I agree, $700 is a rip off in any language/country/timezone. Why you think I didnt get it done!
