Figured the title would through a few people, but I didn't know where else to put this.
I have an old 3.8L V6 Thunderbird. The engine is Mint (bran new 10 miles on it) but the car itself is DONE (Tranny shot, electrical problems, interior gone).
Here's what I'm wondering. Is there anything on that 3.8L ford engine that I can use to boost up my performance on my 2.5L 6? Intake? hell even engine swap? have any of you guys ever tried to put a rear wheel drive engine in a front wheel drive car? is there anything on that car I can use that would improve my 6? if any of you have ideas or have heard of any let me know .... hate to let a $2600 engine go to waste. will prolly sell it if I can't use any of it.
i got a old buick with a V8 motor and its front wheel drive but sits in there like a rear wheel drive might wanna look in to doing some thing like that
How much power does this 3.8L v6 make? Will it be usable power on a fwd? You could do it, if it physically fit and could figure out what to use with the driveline. Would it be worth the effort though, no probably not. Better off putting the effort of fabrication/wiring etc in a rwd car that will give you more back. As suggested, sell the donk, do whatever with the money. Or buy another thunderbird with a stuffed engine, and do the straightforward swap. Sell or drive after that.
sell the engine on ebay. You'll find yourself investing about $10k trying to make that engine fit in your mx6. Try to sell it locally, as its a very common engine.

It did come in FWD in the mini van and taurus but it's not worth swaping.
