engine stand alternative?

quick question:

i'm taking my old ZE out of my old shell so i can get rid of the shell. i don't have an engine stand and i'm not going to go buy one. are there any other alternatives that i can set the engine on for awhile or is sitting it on the oil pan on top of a pallet or something my only option?

lame question i know, i just was wondering

An old tire with stiff side walls should do the trick.

you can get decent engine stands for like 40$. idk i thought i was cheap but ide spend 40 to let my engine stand safe.

around here autoparts stores let you rent or loan tools. im not sure if they load engine stands.

30 bucks i don't feel like spending. this engine is from my car that burned. im sure its mostly okay but still its not like a nice new engine or anything.

I used jack stands properly placed.

Have to say...I am a big fan of the old tyre...just get a wide enough one so as the sump plug doesnt scrape on the garage floor as you drag it along.

a 205 seems to be enought to hold an FE DOHC!

If you dont plan to move it much some strategically placed bits of 2x3 and 2x4 pine can do the job too

I usually use a furniture dolly with 2x4s strategically place to hold the motor up. its perfect because the motor is upright and mobile
