i had a cai and i seem to like the stock air box w/k&n better. i dont like the low end loss for daily driving.

but dont get a warm air, if you do, just buy a filter at your local shop for 20 bux and spend no more. other than that, buy a cai from ebay for 50 bux. most of us did and works just fine.

don't think i lost any low end power with the cai ... in fact there wasn't too much diff at all between the k&n drop in vs the cai...except the cai looked a bunch better..

I got to say I dont agree with the "warm air" theory ppl say. Look at it this way, you can use the warm air and not have to be scared of hydro lock and give up what 1-2 hp? the piece of mind is worth it to me to not get that 1-2 hp. and it is ok I feel better now about it since as soon as the rest of the boost parts show up I will get that 1-2 back real fast lol!

in the end man it is all up to you. do you want that extra lil hp or to make sure you can keep the car from hydro lock? also.... this all depends on how far you run the air intake down? if you drop it as far as you can that is bad. some just get a lil bend and put it right around the tranny area. in the end it is all up to you man.

you can suck warm/hot air from under your hood, or get a drop-in k&n filter like is best. CAI is great when it is a true CAI. it isn't available for the 1g without a bunch of un-needed mods. there is CAI and Short-ram avail. for the 2g as far as I know.

i DO NOT like short rams, unless it comes with the baffles to keep the engine heat out (k&n makes kits like these). If you are going to do it (short ram or CAI) so it right = CAI

I felt a difference when I went from k&n drop in to my short ram. I 100% agree with you kyle. If anyone is really worried about hot air just run an air hose to the short ram and let it suck in the fresh air without the loss of power or worry of hydrolock.

Hey guys, will this CAI work fine with my 1996 MX6 V6, I just need the piping and then I will buy a good K&N filter to replace the one it comes with.
